I am currently 29 about to turn 30 at the end of this year. Myself as well as 90% of my colleagues rent, have no benefits, no pension and no savings. I was hoping by 30 to be debt free, but now I am looking at 40.
I still want to buy a house, have savings and a pension, but it seems impossible considering my line of work is all contract and I dont have the money to switch professions.
The thing is, everyone I work with is in the exact same boat and some older than I am. So are we all screwed when we get older? Am I doomed to greet people at walmart and live in a small apartment my whole life?
