im curious if there is any Kush strains that finish in under 9 weeks? just ab out every kush cross of strain has flowering times of 9 weeks plus. is this true with all Kush strains? i posted a thread about the Super Purple Platinum Bubba Kush a while ago. tried to obtain some info on this beautiful strain. im NOT a huge fan of Kush. there are a few out there i do like. just not all hyped up on the popularity, and the fact that there is tons of Kush strains. just too many Kush strains out there, and not all them are all that great.

well in my experiences, you are right. yes most kushes are 9-10 weeks. However there was a cross that my buddy did. He crossed a tahoe og with a cindy 99 and he told me that he had a couple of phenos from this cross that were ready at 8 weeks.

I used to be just like you. I heard kush this and kush that, but when i grew it out, it was definitely worth the wait. It is actually one of the few strains that i have grown out that actually lived up to its name. and trust i have grown an abundance of strains. I was very disapointed in serious seeds white russian out of everything i ever grew but thats another topic.

just a heads up, "kush" strains are strains that contain the genetics of the cannabis that grows in a specific area of afgan-paki mountains.

OG Kush = 91 Chem x Lemon Thai

so that being said, i'd imagine the actual Kush strains are faster than the OG because because true kushes are heavy indicas

good luck!

yea some "real" unhybridized kush's can go 7-9 weeks. hybrids tend to go longer.

hindu kush is fast flowering, Skunk kush is fast flowering (both ready by week 8 )

Have tried, OG, Valley, and Tahoe and i could pull every one AT day 60 and be just fine. Let a couple go to 63, but thats not quite 9 weeks.

In *theory* a "Kush" strain is an plant with genetics derived entirely, or at least in significant part to cannabis strains from the subcontinent, around the Kush mountain range in what is now Afghanistan/Pakistan. These are the short, bushy, broad leaved, resinous, narcotic-like pure Indicas, traditionally grown in dry climates and renowned for high-quality hashish production. These "true" Kush plants tend to have relatively fast flowering times of only about 7 weeks, give or take a bit, and yeah, those genetics are available if you want to get them. Commercially available examples of these "true Kush" plants would include Afghani #1, Maple Leaf Indica, Hindu Kush, Petrolia Headstash, and others.

In *practice*, since there is no regulation nor standardization in the cannabis seed industry, the term "Kush" has become somewhat of a marketing term, without necessarily being attached to a specific genetic lineage.

Most of the so-called "Kushes" are simply potent indica/sativa hybrid plants, and so while most of them do have true "Kush" genes in there, the same could be said of pretty much any indica hybrid, including many that aren't called "Kush". Some of the labelled "Kush" strains are excellent, and some aren't, and a lot of the ones with different names really aren't all that different from one another.

I'd say forget the word "Kush". If you're looking for a fast-flowering strain, there are plenty of good ones out there, and they may (or may not) actually be labelled "Kush".

yup! i know about the definition of a true Kush, but with there being so many crosses. im just trying to get a census on whats commonly going around. i know Kush is nothing new. Kush has been around since the 70's. and just for the record, OG kush, IS NOT Original Gangster Kush. just thought i would throw that out there. i read an article stating that OG stans for Ocean Grown, as for the regions were Kush us grown, there are mountain regions and ocean regions. if this is true, and i believe it is, because i highly doubt Ice-T had much to do with Kush, lol!! just something i thought i would throw out there. i would love to see the responses i receive. and no im not looking for anything Kush. i just got some Super Purple Platinum Bubba Kush beans that are rocking pretty damn good. and at 8 weeks, they look about done and ripe to me. thanks for all the responses and insight.
