Aquaponics

so I've just got myself a reasonable sized garden and begged the missus to let me fuck around in a 1.8x2.5m well lit patch. I'm wanting to put in an aquaponics system and grow some Lily's and roses. I like the look of those ibc container systems but 1 look and she said no chance lol.
I just want to pick the brains of someone knowledgeable.

Is there a rule for pond size vs root volume?

Can I use a mix of coco and hydroton?

What roses and Lily's require similar ph levels in awuaponics and if so what fish (that can survive a uk winter) are best suited to these plants.

Aquaponics data sheets are what you need. They're mathematical proportions of fish count to bed size and count. You could use the coco but you'll need something more dense mixed in to prevent it from eroding. Regular heavy gravel

I did briefly. I practiced on a pretty large mature system. I made the feed for the fish and used a few different bed types. They all have their benefits for different plants types. There's a film of water type, raised ebb flow beds, flow forms (figure eights for high airation). I did duckponics with snails, ducks, and morning glory as the filter as well. Also septic run off cleansing with morning glory and vetiver grass.

Duckponics! Haha if I hadn't of done a quick google search there I wouldn't have believed you. Winters here now so I'm gonna try and get a plan down on paper before I need to build it. I'm not wanting to grow any food if I'm honest I would like to grow ornamental roses and lilies to brighten the place up abit and to also give as gifts. So a shared bed night not be the best idea, probably gonna be pot culture. I even thought of doing a few northern lights autos but growing canabis in my garden probably ain't a great idea lol. I've got big yield of cannabis in aquaponics. I added chelated iron into the system. Without it don't expect to see any buds.

I didn't hear about growing ornamental roses and lilies in aquponics. However cannabis grows great.
