Anyone know what this white mold growing in the top of my vermicompost bin? Or if it's good or bad?

Dang guys, thanks. I'm really loving these worm bins. I've got another bin same size with about 3-4lbs of worms. I've been feeding them with kelp alfalfa and malted barley, plus kitchen scraps. I wanna leave them alone but I'm trying to figure out how fast they eat, so I'm in there all the time checking. I don't want to over feed them, but I also want them to multiply.

depends on how many worms you have and the temp etc. worms like colder temps but like colder as you think rite around 60-65

You might want to hold back on feed for a few. It means your worms aren’t really keeping up with the decomposition. Not a bad thing by any means. And would be great in top layer of your soil containers but I would dial it down slightly. Check your bedding temperature right after feeding. And each day for a eeek or so. If your bedding heats up really more than 10 degrees over ambient temps it’s a sign of over feeding and again that fungal growth is out pacing the worms. They eat the fungas and stuff around decomposing organic matter. Not the matter itself if that makes since.

That makes a lot of sense. That bin only has 250 worms in it. I was feeding it less, but not that much less, than the other bin that has a shit ton more worms in it. I'll prob take a handful of worms out of the one and put them in the other.

That's awesome bc I have them in my crawl space, it stays a pretty even 60-65°.
