Oh that's dissapointing. I know there's ruderallis in the genes, I just didn't know how many times they could wash it out with other photoperiod strains and still get the auto factor.
I was hoping they could take a photo strain with say 18% and cross it with some ruderallis @ 6% and maybe come back with 12%?
What if they took that 12% mother and crossed it back again to another 18% photo plant ? Would it bring the THC up more, or dilute the ruderallis gene too much to make it auto?
i'm not sure about that last part as i'm far from a breeder.. my point was simply why would you want to mess around with any plant that has rud. genetics in it when there's tons of strains that aren't autos and therefore going to be way more potent??
the only real reason i can see for growing autos is say you live in a northern climate and it gets too cold before normal photo period plants would finish outdoors in that area, say parts of canada and northern maine as well as lots of areas of europe..
or, if you want to get a crop in by mid summer before the popo and rippers are really out looking for full grown plants..
or, lol, you have normal photoperiod plants going and throw in some auto's for some smoke while you're waiting for the photo's to finish..
or, lol again, i'm not hating on auto's tbh, i just don't have much use for them myself being as there are tons of more potent, better yielding options out there..
the only auto that has my attention, and it's not a true auto imvho as it doesn't contain any ruderalis, is iranian short season, aka, iranian auto, by dr greenthumbs..
