I went to water my plants this morning, i grow indoors in 4x4 ft grow beds, and discovered a small wild mushroom growing out of the topsoil. Im sure its possible that there could be some dormant mushroom spores in the soil that i bought but i have never seen or heard of anyone having this happen.

If Anything grows out of the soil other than Herb & theres no chance it was introduced by me. I'd change soils/brand. They've shown themselves unreliable! first shrooms then bugs!

Fungus and bugs are not necessarily bad for your plant. A balanced soil ecosystem will actually benefit from the right fungus and bugs. Wet dry cycle means you want to let your soil dry up a little bit prior to the next watering. The pots get lighter and the first 2 inches of soil gets dry. Too much water encourages fungus to grow.
I know of may organic farmers who cherish beneficial myco flora and good bugs that eat the bad bugs.

I Hear you Brah...Fungi,Bacteria,Benificial microbes & insects I get it. Got it...Moisture,Light,Heat=Fungus/Mold I get it...
My point with the soil was..That if somthing grows out of my soil that is not listed on package or placed there by me, benificial or not I aint feelin that.. I see the soil as contaminated! Today Shrooms -tomorow bugs!
I was asking WET how the heavy watering was related to the shroom. from what he wrote I got the impression that the shroom is a result of overwatering & not contaminated soil. Nor did I imply that he should ditch the herb...Its all love NLNo5....PEACE...

I pulled out a little mushroom the other day.. Also found a strand of grass before and a clover..
I think its to do with soil moisture level and humidity.
