Anybody use acorn shells in compost?

Im buying a compost tumbler and I have been throwing out a lot of acorn shells lately. Has anybody here used them in a compost pile? I eat the meat of the acorn after I leach the tannins out and if I could do something with the shell besides throwing them out that would be great. What other kinds of foods do you guys use in your compost? I read you could use egg shells if you crush them up real fine. Just trying to get info from people who use there compost for growing marijuana.

i would think you'd need to crush them first, but that it would be a great source for composting. worms do my composting for me, and get rid of the growing evidence--well, most of it. egg shells are good - i grind them up. a tumbler looks cool - have you ever used one?

Thanks for welcoming me. What do you mean a tumbler? I use a skinny but thick hunting knife to chop the acorns into 4 pieces and I pop the meat out with the tip of the knife. I was about to buy a hand crank meat grinder for making sausage, I think I could throw the acorn shells in that.
