You need to register with the IRS to get your EIN number. Use that number to register an LLC or some other type of business license as well as open a seperate banking account for your business. You always want to keep your income and accounts separate from your business... that way if someone sues... they don't sue you, they sue your business.

Welcome to the first step of owning your own business... hard part is getting it started... harder part is getting business lol.

I opened and learned how to run my own business all from online research and trial and error. A lot of time and money will be spent at the courts going back and fourth with the wrong documents and shit. But I started an independent service kind of thing... so I don't know the specifics of opening a store except needing utilities and insurance on top of the proper registration and licensing.

Thanks for your reply, ive got ideas its just putting them into motion, and knowing what to do 1st.
Im in the UK so i would think
firstly: get a outlet/warehouse. ive managed to get on of these, its a Good area with very little competition. There nearest Hydroponic store is 20 miles or more, i visited this today and it was pants. Dont fret i dont live in the desert lol. Its quite a populated place where im WANT to set up.
Secondly: Company House. Think of a name and make it my own! £££
Third: This is where im getting confused. bank accounts i can handle, sweet. But VAT registered and all that stuff is were im lost.
Forth: Getting supplies <----- this ones got me hashed!

Well since your in the UK I can't help with what licensing you need... but getting supplies just takes contacting some suppliers and some investment. Say you want to sell their product and your a startup hydro store, see if they have bulk package deals. After that it's all about finding the cheapest price for shit that sells in quantity... Get a merchant license or something and just order a bunch of shit in bulk from ebay or whatever. Find it cheap, sell it for profit.

Start small and use the income the store makes to grow it. Don't bet your bank roll on it, make it pay for itself. That way, if it is going to work it will, if it isn't, your investment is limited. S

Our hydo store did something nice at start up. First they had full working demos set up with tomatoes and stuff. Secon he only stocked up what he knew he could sell and then ordered what people asked for that way he didnt have a bunch of mechandise laying around collecting dust. Make sure you have literature in your store that explicitly explains it is not for illegal purposes. good luck to you

Cheers guys.
Ive got a good amount of investment, to get supplies, ect...
Definatly whould have demos going, 99% of the hydro stores ive been to, has some form of plant growing. cheers ak.
when you say 'our' hydro store are you meaning your own?
Also i think here in the UK its slightly more layed back than your illegal states with regards to the cannabis cultivation, even if it is a Class B.
Starting small would be the best option! Once my feet are on the ground, ive got suppliers, ect...
Im thinking to myself now, What would sell? What would i buy from the store? What do i buy?
Nutrients, Lights, Fans, Soil, ect.
Id also like to start selling online, webpage, cataloge. I know this is 'eventually' but there is much to be exited about!
Anyhow nice one chaps!!!!

If you wish to have a chance at success...you should have at least 2 years worth of income already set aside. A new business can easily go that long without a profit.

Small business is being hammered right now.... be careful.
