Does any one know how much more efitient 24 is over 18/6 useing hps.is it worth the extra cost.and can you change from 24/7 to 18/6 in the middle of veg or from 18/6 to 24 hour lighting.any information on this.

I germinated and vegged 9 BB's with fl. light for the first month at 24 hours. I just moved them up into my flowering chamber using a 600w hps and now at 18/6. In a month or so Ill just switch the light to 12/12. So far I havent seen anything negetaive happen.

From what i know it makes no huge differnce, ive tried it both ways and decided to go 18/6 with my new hid since it sucks alot more juice

it realy makes little difference. 24/0 makes for bigger and bushier plants, 18/6 supposedly helps promote root growth. ive tried both, i do 24/0.

kind princess, why did you end up preferring 24 over 18/6 was it you wanted the bushier plant.i mean if 18/6 is almost the same the saveings in power is worth it no?if you have to veg an extra 5 days it lessen your power bill over an extended period.you end up useing the same but its drawn out bringing less heat.ive read that 18/6 is only off by two days in vegging compared to 24.but i dont know a hell of alot that why im trying to get input.you would think this would be a huge topic.but thanks all.

Sorry, it just looks funny when people say "24/7" becasue we all know theres not 24+7=31 hours in a day.. =p I think you mean 24/0 ;)

i start plants in my basement, which is always cool, even in the midst of summer. i do 24/0 for heating purposes, the lights keep the room an even 72f.
