Any methods for preventing seed production?

Hey there, I have been growing two white widow plants and I am in about 4-5 weeks into flowering. Both of them were females (They have a plenty of budsites with a lot of pistils) or so I thought... Today I noticed that they both have seeds on them! These two plants I have are definitely hermies... my question is... is there any way to prevent seed production on my hermies besides picking the seeds off with care (I was already planning of doing this)? I heard that if you do a HEAVY misting with ice water, it should abort seed production... you guys have any other tips? I think I caught them in a early stage cuz the seeds are still green and my pistil haven't withered yet.

I would NOT use ice water. That's what you use with the trim to make hash as it breaks off the trichomes (as I remember, never made hash but seen a few tutorials). I've read that water kills pollen, but that's not a proven, I honestly don't know. However, at this stage it won't hurt to hose the girls/hermies down. I would just shake mine well (gently, but well) to help make sure as much water was removed from the buds as possible.

The one girl I had hermie went completely the other way. Lost all its pistils and bud sites, swapped 'em for male flowers. I tried cutting and picking off the male flowers, it just made more and more and more. I think that if you leave it alone it may stop producing male flowers at a certain point, but wouldn't count on it. You can pick the seeds out, but that's only going to handle those seeds, yeah? One hell of a task, especially if the buds are going to be dense. Best of luck.

Hmm... so even if i pick off all the seeds (lmao this is going to be a pain in the ass) and I cut off the male flowers there is no guarantee that it will stop the seed production?

Ya anything would be helpful at this point... I don't want to trash and waste the plants I already have. I know the bud will be decent at most, but I want to salvage as much bud as possible, otherwise that would mean I would have to order seeds and start all over again

buy Dutch master reverse, it stops hermies and seed production. It shrivels up the male flowers and doesn't affect the pistils.

hey gangjababy should i buy penetrator with the dutch master reverse? would that make it more effective?... especially at this early stage?

your bud will still be great. I just finished some small plants that i had grown for seeds and the bud is still as good as any.

Yes, but did those plants show any hermaphroditic traits? The one I had that flipped flipped completely, there is little evidence that there were ever any pistils, let alone get any bud off of it? That's not to say that you can't get decent bud off a hermie, this I can't say because I know how variable hermaphrodism be. Based on this experience I'm not sure I'd let a hermie grow out again, though.

It occurred to me, if the male flowers are forming separately from the female, you might be able to make a little pouch, bag or purse, that allows light in and maybe some air/moisture exchange (some kind of paper or fabric?) that you can fit over, like a little expandable bud condom, to keep the buds from being further pollinated and just let them be as they will be for now (or! switch it up and condomize the male flowers, they'll just keep going and then drop their pollen into the thing, and then.. just use a baggie or something). That's a pretty screwy idea, but I did just take a big toke off my.. I don't know what kind of pipe this is. It's big and it's glass and somebody gave it to me. Hits good. <cough!cough!cough!>

Yeah! Put baggies over the male flowers, don't pick or cut them off because the plant will just ramp up production. Let them do shoot their wad, they won't know it's been wasted. (Unless it can feel the difference... )

I'm not sure. I don't think you need it.

Everyone I've seen post who says they've used it has gotten the Penetrator. However, I do recall at least one person saying he skipped the Penetrator and used liquid soap instead.

yea the bud will still be fine dont trash it. now you have new seeds and the bud will still be delicious. if it irritates you that much to pick out the seeds then just make hash out of all of it. and i wouldnt really pick the seeds out of them right now that just sounds unhealthy for the plant. the pollen has already accepted the pollen and you cant pull it out or sterilize it. now you just have to accept the seeds...
