I've been growing a Bubba Kush X Deep Chunk cross from Cannacopia for like 7 months now.

Three things:

1) This is the most potent strain I've grown. The nugs are completely white with trichomes.

2) It takes some practice to get a decent yield. Topping/fimming/lst is needed to get as many budsites as possible because it has far less of a tendency vs other strains to form large colas, only golf ball size nugs at each budsite.

3) Harvesting early in the ripeness window will give a sweeter bubblegum taste. A later harvest will make for a more dank and musty flavor.

What i wanna know is why they talk about pre 98 bubba. Why is that different or better? did somebody mess the strain up somehow in 1999 or something?

First and only experience is with star kush wich is half pre 98 bubba but it's still in veg so not much to report on that front.

mared juwan, are those purple nugs in the picture you posted bubba kush? because, ive just noticed some of the leaves are starting to show slight signs of purple, is this typical of this strain? also a new smell is coming off of them, its kinda like grape swisher sweets...? this is not what i expected. i am feeding GH kool bloom which has high amounts of potash and phosphate, just started last week. possibly they are getting too much? is this a sign of over fertilizing? i will do some research, i am curious to here what others have to say about this. i got this clone from a los angeles dispensary...anyone else out receive this strain from this area?not sure how to tell if my bk is pre 98 or not....anyone? i dont know the difference either.

help us out chitown, i know you know your stuff dood!

Yea my BK the uppermost leaves go lavender late in flower. That's what it looks like yours is doing. I wouldn't worry about it. Pre 98 Bubba is a clone only strain. Anyone who has grown theirs from seed does not have it in pure form. A clone from the LA area may very well be the original.

Your plant looks alot like mine, maybe mine is a pre 98. If i make a hermie and have it pollinate a female to produce seeds. Try to grow these seeds without success...will this prove i have a pre 98? what nutrients you use mared juwan? how long flower? method of growing?

Yea my Bubba Kush is from a breeder named Cannacopia. It is not 100% Bubba but the 1/2 that is Bubba is from the Pre 98 original. This breeder crosses all their strains with Deep Chunk males they got from Tom Hills himself. The Deep Chunk is supposed to improve yields and maintain high potency while letting the traits of the clone only strains they are crossed with be dominant in flavor and appearance. Anyways our plants do look very much alike. This sounds like your first time growing this particular strain so I'm sure you will be more than happy with the finished product. As I said it is my most potent smoke and a sure crowd pleaser wherever I go. As far as my growing style I was doing all coco but have switched over to a spaghnum moss/perlite mix for hopefully a more earthy flavor. I'm on the ultimate quest for coco/hydro style growth with soil style taste. For nutes I use AN Sensi 2 part, AN Big Bud, and Ionic Boost plus calmag and barricade to supplement for Ca, mg, and K. It probably sounds funny hearing me say hydro style growth when my BK buds are so small LOL. Most of the other strains I grow look like this:leaf:

As far as proving whether you have pre 98 I don't really know if that's possible at this point. My maximum ripeness window is about 54-63 days. I like letting it run the full 63 for maximum musty dankness.

i think this plant does best when left alone....just judging from what i see in my grow room. big ol donkey dick nugs. I heard bubba kush is a low yielder anyway...who cares tho...its the best bud around.

i use GH maxi grow, maxi bloom, kool bloom, pineapple sweetner, and humboldts countys own snow storm. my organic plant uses age old fruit and age old grow. i just finished a compost consisting of coco coir, perlite, vermiculite, steer manure, chicken manure, sphagnum peat moss... im using it in veg room now. i have a bubble bucket im waiting to use come fall.

IM growing the same....love the purple hints!!! But i think i kind of shocked my plant as well because of high temp from the bulbs.

where did you get this strain from krazykush?

I know the answer because he and I have discussed it before. He has the same strain I do. Seems to be a few different color variations on this one. I've seen deep purple nugs or just tinted purple or completely white. Also depends a little bit on growing conditions and nute uptake etc. Colder night temps bring out more color and also timing your flush right helps a lot.
