Amsterdam: Need a Hotel or BnB Recommendation

I'm going on a short Europe trip in October. Going to Ireland with some cousins 10/3-10/10. It's a combo fun/ album promo trip. So i'm flying over the evening of Wednesday, 9/30, arriving in Dublin AM on 10/01. I'm then jumping immediately onto a flight to Amsterdam to get some high time before dealing with cousins for a week. I'm looking right now at Best Western Dam Square. Does anyone have a hotel or BnB recommendation? I've never been before. I prefer not to spend a ton of $ but want safe and descent. I'll be in a huge farmhouse in Ireland so I want a hotel or BnB with some amenities. I want to be close to some coffee shops as my only real reason to go is get ridiculously high before going back to Ireland. I'll have a friend with me but we can share bed. We don't really care about that. Any knowledge is appreciated. Thanks.

When I went to the Dam a few years ago I stayed in a hostel call Durty Nellie's. Well packed rooms above an irish pub . Right on the edge of the red light district as I remember. Right near the novelty condom shop.
It was a dive. I'd recommend it.

Where's the Irish farmhouse at? Roughly?

I stayed at the Hotel Winston a couple times. A funky (pretty cheap) art hotel in the red light district. As it is summer, you might want to get something closer to the Vondelpark.

I remember you saying you were going near Galway now.

Bring a rain coat. This has been the wettest summer in 5 years i recon, but that might mean that autumn is better.

Really, it might....
Thank you. I will bring some Gore-Tex rain gear. I expect rainy. It will just be nice to get away for a little while. It's all good. Indoor sports if it rains.

Near Vondelpark Plaza? Really? I'm surprised. That seems so far away from the City Centre where most of the action is. I'll look it up more.

i stayed in what i believe was called the dam hotel, right across from the red light district, pretty cheap, average place. nothing special, but a place to rest your head at night..
