Eyeing China, U.S. Expands Military Ties to Australia

Not cool... I moved away from the US, since I didn't want to deal with post, 9-11 restrictions to my liberty as a american. And didn't want to be involved with the gradual imperialistic direction our country was taking. Also jobs and people are much better in Australia . Also hectic cars.

Lines have been quietly being drawn in the sand since 9/11. Inevitably something snaps. Most of America's military expenditures haven't been on equipment useful in guerilla warfare (which is what they are basically engaged in currently), but rather weaponry designed to deal with other heavy weaponry. This has been coming for a very long time. This is a small step, but they're all important.

US military bases popping up all along the Russian border too.

Not to be the bringer of bad news, but it's worth knowing.

I was in Australia for a few months back in 07 when i was still in the Marine Corps. Beautiful place

the fact he wants to base them their is not really that important imo but what he said sure is. It almost sounds like he is trying to call china out or something. I guess if we are going to go to war with china eventually we might as well do it before they get even stronger.....

Well aussies aren't happy with being occupied, like we like the americans (Im an american in aus) and have no objection is having them here to train and inject some money into our economy, but a permanent station isn't cool for us. They say they wont be building american bases, and be using aussie bases, but the fact that after awhile we'll have a full company of marines on aussie soil permanently, doesn't sit well with us. Since we try to keep the balance between china and the us. Personally I dont see why, we cant be more like switzerland, just stay out of any conflict and constantly make money, and use that money to control the euro, and financially dictate what happens in the vicinity.
