growing in coco with soul synthetic nutrients, at day 53 flower the heads of trichomes are turning amber, maybe 5-10%. I had hoped to flush for 2 weeks to really fade the plants, but I don’t want trichomes to degrade too much. How long should I go with flushing before chop?
Some additional background info, strains are Bruce banner (Sativa hybrid) and stardawg (an indica variety, 91?). I should have been better about checking trichomes but my last run of OG Kush I didn’t see any amber until at least 10 weeks in same environment although that was organic. I ran straight water for 9 days before harvest and was very pleased with results. I’m three days into flushing with ph’d water now since day 53. The trichomes don’t seem to be rapidly degrading which is good. I picked up royal flush yesterday and ran it through between applications of ph’d water, I don’t like the idea of flushing agents but I thought this might expedite the process. My RO water is 7 ppm, and my runoff is still coming out at 587ppm. I wasn’t checking ppm of nutes going in but I was flushing every 2 weeks of flower with straight water.
I’m not looking for a to flush or not to flush debate here, but if you are already of the opinion that flushing matters please offer any advice. I suspect a shorter flush of 6 days or so won’t push my flowers too far, but eager to learn from others experience. I also like to dry them out for a day or so before chop to reduce moisture for curing, so trying to keep that in mind. Thanks!
