all talk, and no action...

What is it that we should all be trying to do? We should all be trying to make the world a better place. But everyone is all talk and no action.

Their beliefs give them the excuse to sit around and talk, while doing nothing. So they can go on with their lives exactly as they were living it before.

Buying things they don't need instead of using their money responsibly to help others. They buy their new clothes without ever having to think about the people thousands of miles away who have NONE! These are just a couple examples.

Until they realize the truth, they will continue to believe what they want so they can keep living life the way they like, instead of giving back to the world, giving back to the universe.

They don't have to change because they think the world will change for them, or that it is out of their control... it is an excuse.

And they will sit, and they will wait. And nothing will happen because none of them are going to change their behaviors.

None of them will give up things they don't need, to people who need them. None of them will give up their comforts, to make others more comfortable. None of them will give up their fortunes, to help less unfortunates.

It is about equalizing our happiness with the rest of the worlds, and our beliefs give us the excuse to sit and wait, to do nothing about our own behavior. To continue being selfish in the guise of self-lessness.

Unless we change our behaviors, the world will stay in the hell it is in right now… until it may be too late.

All talk and no action.

We must all change our behavior to be better parts of ourselves.

But no one will... because we like our beliefs, homes, our video games, our shoes and clothes, our burgers and French fries, our drugs, alcohol and cigarettes.

To make change we must be change, but our beliefs give us the excuse to keep doing the same things over and over again without ever taking full responsibility for what we are doing, for every action we take, and how it affects EVERYONE… not just the people and places that surround you.

No one wants to give up what they have become attached to, whether it be materialistic items we don’t need, or beliefs we don’t need; they would rather turn their back on the world and be selfish, while parading around like they are making a difference, when they keep making the same decisions about their lives over and over again. The same patterns, which will not help the world but continue to drive it deeper and deeper into self-destruction.
All talk, and no action.

I believe to wake up, is to become utterly conscious about every single decision you make, about every single thought you think… and to take responsibility in doing what you know is right for each and every one of those decisions or thoughts.

I can lead you to water but I cannot make you drink, I can help you hear but I cannot make you listen, I can open your eyes but I cannot make you see. He who has ears let him hear, he who has eyes let him see.

Do what’s easy and continue to live life the way you like, the way you always have been, or do what’s hard and really truly help the universe instead of helping yourselves.

But you won’t want to accept it either. You will start making attempts to justify your own behaviors, and they still will not change. I have the same problem with some things, but they are getting better, slowly and surely i am taking the steps necessary to make the changes we all know we need to make… In order for the world to be a better place.

So what is more important to you? Yourself, Or the collective? Yourself, or the world? Yourself or the universe?

All talk and no action…

Nothing is beyond our ability if everyone is willing to come together. It is hard and it is painful, but I promise if you need someone to talk to, or if you need someone to empathize with you, I am here. If you need help I promise I’ll try my best to find a way to help you. I promise you I will show you compassion and love and understanding and patience. I cannot do this alone, I need everyone’s help. So when you are ready, please let me know, I will be here for you… with you, always have been and always will be.

(I will not reply to this, if you would like to discuss it with me, please message me, this is for each individual to come to their own understanding and decision of how they really want to live their lives)

we can all help each other if we choose to…

please, keep your stupid comments to yourself, i would rather not have another philosophical thread ruined by immature antics.

anyone have any input, advice or anything interesting to add?? do you agree or disagree, why??

"because we like our beliefs, homes, our video games, our shoes and clothes, our burgers and French fries, our drugs, alcohol and cigarettes."

Is there something wrong with this? Does this not help the economy? Keeps millions of jobs in place.

1. Buying or renting a home is putting food in someones mouth.
2. Buying video games is putting food in someones mouth.
3. Buying shoes is putting food in someones mouth in China, Indonesia, Cambodia, Mexico, etc.
4. Buying clothes is putting food in someones mouth in China, Indonesia, Cambodia, Mexico, etc.
5. Buying burgers is putting food in someones mouth. All fast food employees. Farmers, ranchers, slaughter houses, packaging facilities. My dog even gets bones.
6. Buying cherries or any fruit is putting food in illegals mouths.
7. And if it wasn't for alcohol and drugs there wouldn't be rehab centers. More food in someones mouth.
8. Cigarettes keep hospitals and mortuaries staffed.

"So what is more important to you? Yourself, Or the collective? Yourself, or the world? Yourself or the universe?"

1st Unfortunately me me me. The economy is terrible and my kids like food with their dinner. Therefore me and my family come first.
2nd The collective. The collectives are put in place so people can have safe access to their meds. (Again helping the injured or ill)

When did life turn easy?

It almost sounds like you are bitter at your ex for taking all your money.

The problem is taking the next step after figuring this all out. One must reach these kinds of conclusions by looking objectively at the rest of the world, then looking inside oneself and making adjustments they see fit.

I think you can change yourself all you want to make the world a better place, but there are 100 intellectually lazy people for every 1 of you. We live in a world of ignorance, where basic understanding of the most elementary concepts or ideas are considered academic achievements.

James Franco did a bit with Stephen Colbert on the Colbert Report about this. The media has been commending Franco on going to school, even though he's a successful multimillion dollar award winning actor, as if having money and attaining wealth has become the major motivation to lives ones life today. They call him a "modern day Renaissance man" and him and Colbert were making fun of the only reason the media portrays him as that is because everybody else is so fucking stupid by comparison.

The world we live in eh...

So bro when are you gonna change op? Are you typing on a pc? If so then you should sell it and buy food for the nearest homeless person. If you have a small house well it's good enough for a person that lives under a bridge to move into.

Alright I'm not sure if that came off as a dick but that was not my intention.
You make it sound like people should get rid of everything but I don't believe that. I believe you can spend 50-100 dollars to save someone's life. You are talking and not giving any action.
So here's some things I believe we can do today to help the world-
- pick up a homeless person let him/her crash at your house. Have about 50-100 dollars to spend. Buy them a haircut, buy them some food, and tell him/her to take a bath. If they have no education sign them up for a free GED class then pay for their test. When they pass take them to apply for a job. If they getthe job let them crash with you until they save up the money for at least a months rent on their own place. - all they need is a little boost/push and help.
-next you can donate clothes or just take some clothes to people who need it.
-donate food to a food bank near you.
Ehh I'm actually out of things for now but yeah there are alot of things you can do to help.

Or go give blood. It's free and you get a cookie and OJ.

I would apply this rant to people who are pretending to help while actually doing nothing but complaining. Remove the pretending part, and I am ok with it. IOW if someone is just complaining, that is there prerogative. I don't think that simply by being born you are obligated to work towards the betterment of the world. I think it's commendable if you do, but it's not a responsibility. I think a person is obligated to pull their own weight and clean up their own mess, and nothing more. I think there are many things you can do which then does make the world more of a personal responsibility, like have children, but to suggest anyone who buys a playstation is subverting responsibility, or that anyone who expresses an opinion without taking action is invalid, is ridiculous. Some people do not care if the world continues a downward spiral and are excited at the prospect of having a front row seat.

Well strife practice what you preach friend,be the all action and no talk type it is a noble thing, but as Padawan put it think you can change yourself all you want to make the world a better place, but there are 100 intellectually lazy people for every 1 of you. We live in a world of ignorance.

This is sad but all to true indeed, Strife its no wonder to me why you feel how you do on this subject.

its so funny, every single time i write things like this everyone is so skeptical, practice what you preach. but friends i am.

i have given away so much to people who need them...for example...

my car, my ps3, (every old gen console and game i ever owned...which is a lot) all my shoes but 2 pair, all my clothes except for clothes i need, i gave up my apartment and my job, (my income is made from cannabis, and only used for things i need) i bought a nice bike, and ride it 35miles round trip 4 days a week (takes 2hrs to get there and 2hrs to get back) so i can go to my friends house and take care of the girls. the winter will be tough, but usually the roads will be plowed so i shouldnt have to walk too often.

i own a dresser, clothes, shoes, tools, art, and books. i dont need materialistic items to be happy anymore, i have delved deep within myself to find out where true happiness comes from. i have found what makes me happiest, making others happy...and spreading the message, in hopes that i will be able to influence others to do the same thing, so the world still has a chance to be a better place.

the computer im useing right now is my mothers, i rode my bike 230miles from michigan to ohio, it took me 5 days to get here. i rode here to help them, they have a lot of different projects they need to get done. my mother gave me life, you cannot put a pricetag on life, i owe her everything....it is the least i can do for her, and i expect nothing in return but the joy i get from being around my family. i also get time to go out looking for strangers that need help too (helping oldies with their groceries, helping dude pack up his truck, etc.)

i am doing my best to equalize my happiness with the rest of the worlds, and im not saying its easy, its damn hard i tell you what. but the fact is...

i have never in my life had less, and i have never in my life been this happy...

as happy as you think you are, i just know you that you can be happier within yourself...just as i can, and i am trying too. we are all trying in our different ways.

its just that so many people get happiness and joy confused, happiness comes from being at peace within yourself and everything you do. joy comes from things effecting you on the outside.

joy is temporary, where as happiness is eternal.

when you begin to understand where true happiness comes from, the things you used to think were so important loose their value. you don't have to give away anything, they just kind of fall away of their own accord.

I agree, it is unbecoming of the attitude which is portrayed, which makes the whole content seem disingenuous. Advice is one thing, judgment coupled with instructions is another.

Well strife I agree that you can't buy happiness but the things money can buy can sure as hell can be amusing. Like I said if you just help a person out a little then you could potentially save their life, you don't have to get rid of everything if you don't want to.
