I like the stones, some of the discs float and turn upside down just a pain sometimes I have both though. I usually buy 4" - 6" round wands they are probably 1" in diameter 4" - 6" long

Some problems I'm experiencing with the cheap stones ( I pick them up at my local HTGsupply store) is they tend to be inconsistent. I have some that make it look like the water is boiling then others hooked to the same line let out almost no air at all. I get about 6 good ones for every 10 I buy so far. But being as cheap as they are, I just buy in QTY.

i use Ecoplus 2"x4" cylinders, around $4 a piece, www.horticulturesource.com work great. very consistent and i'm very happy with the results. i began my DWC with a 5.25" disc, but as was previously stated by Weedler they will float an turn upside down, greatly reducing their efficiency. the cylinders will work in any direction, just make sure there's always at least 1 gal. in reservoir to cover the stone.
