I'm having a lil heat issue in my grow closet the temp is hovering around 85 with ac on outside and a fan blowing in and a fan blowing up on the lights wich is good for my sprouts now but I want it at 74 when they get a lil bigger so if I put a small ac in there and set it at like 72 will it do harm?

Why do you think it would do any harm?

There are 2 types of air conditioners. One is a window unit that has the cooling sealed from the heat side. The other type is a portable unit that needs constant fresh air and a place to vent hot air.

The portable type can typically cool an area 10 degrees below the ambient temperatures. So if it is 85 in the outer room you may be able to achieve 75 degree air in the room you are concerned about.

^ It all depends on the BTU's of said portable air con. a 12,000 BTU portable could easily cool 85 air in a grow room to below 70 no problem. A 7000BTU might take more time to do it but it would get it to 70. Now, the 7000 wouldnt be ideal for a large bedroom, but for a small closet it would be more than enough.

air blowing in would be fine, it's the air that comes out the back, it will be hot, what are you going to do with that air?

a/c work like this, there are 2 coils, one blows cold the other blows hot, a window unit contains all parts in a boxed unit.
your house a/c or split system, has a coil inside and a coil outside with pipes connecting the 2, they pass refrigerant(freon)
freon is a heat sponge and absorbs the heat. so a a/c is a heat transfer system.
if you can swing it, a mini split would be the perfect solution, do a search on google, also goes by ductless a/c.
