Hey everyone, I am growing for my first time using an aeroflo2 60 cite and I've got a couple questions for you guys.

Is anyone out there using the same system? And how do you like it?

But most importantly,,

How often do you change out the water? And how the heck do you do it?! I know it has a drain on the bottom but I cant think of one plausable way of draining this beast without either disturbing my plants or making a huge mess!

Any help would by highly appreciated!

Thanks! :bigjoint:

Good question. On mine i have a chiller so i have a bulkhead fitting at the lowest portion of the res and i just use the pump that circulates that water, to drain it.you could Use the drain valve? put a hose on it? if you need it to go somewhere other than down use a pump.

once a week i s what I do. Some people go longer.

I had a problem draining mine I had to use a pump hooked up to the drain valve. would not gravity drain. If you dont have a extra pump atach a hose to the threads at the end of manifold and turn on the main pump

I have a aero flo 60 I like it.Watch your water temp. I have a 1/2hp chiller I bought after loosing my first crop. I also use Watermax by Bobs Brew.No more root problems res.& filters stay clean. To drain my system I hook up a pump to the drain valve drain about 1/2 then start pulling the tubes that control the depth of the water in the runners. Keep an eye on the res. to make sure your pumping out faster than the runners are feeding back in. After it is empty I fill res. with clean water and run it for 30min. redrain clean filters fillback up and add nutri.Do this 1 a week or everyother week.

Also helps to place a 2x4 under runners on top of the runner suport leg to put the runners at an angle to help them drain all the water out. Clean the top or the res. brfore you drain runners some water will get on top of the res. and go into res. you dont want extra crap going in with it.

Hell yea, thanks a bunch for all the info Zero, I will definitely take your advice. I'm really liking the aeroflo2 as well man, what temp do you typically keep your water at?

i pump it out with an extra pump as far as i can, then use a cup to get the rest of the water out, then use a towel to dry, takes 10 mins, to drain.. i do it every 2 weeks or so.

I've tried a million ways to drain my AF. Of all the ways I have tried to complete this task as easy as possible, I found the best way to Drain a AF was to install a washtub sink in your room and use a big magdrive with a filter on the end so you don't get any hydroton through there. I like this way b/c I can get the hose end all the way to the bottom and literally drain it dry. It also is nice having the sink to "Do Dishes" as I like to say, meaning wash all the baskets, Hydroton, level adjustment tubes exc.
