Aero / DWC combo?

I've recently picked up a few Dewey Misters, in order to build my first Areoponics set up in a tote. My worry is, if the roots get too long and sit submerged, will that be bad? Has anyone ran airstones with misters, to combine the benefits of aeroponics and dwc in the same grow environment? Let me know if you think this is wise a wise move or totally unnecessary. Total newb here, have 3 soil grows under my belt and hate buying more soil each grow - love the idea of hydro, so looking for your guidance.

All of us that use aero cloners have this happen. Roots stretching and get long, dip into the water below, and its completely fine. That waters CHOCK FULL of Dissolved oxygen on account of the pump always spraying and moving it. I leave clones in the cloner for weeks after they root sometimes even. Just give em some food and they'll continue to grow just fine til you can put them somewhere.

So, 2 dewey misters in 1 tote will work fine - rather than a mister and airstone combo? My plan is to run the plant the entire grow with the misters, not just clone and early veg.

I can guarantee you won't be able to grow anything bigger than maybe a 1.5' plant WHEN ITS DONE, using Dewey misters.

The aero setup spraying water and creating a rain effect down into the standing water will bring it enough oxygen. As long as your roots dont grow around your sprayers, theyre fine sitting in the water.

BOO scrog @Thundercat , what do you think, can we call it a true scrog? Hehe as long as you weave it and train the canopy to be at screen level I would call it a scrog. I start considering it just to be trellising once the canopy is allowed to outgrow the screen to where it needs a second...

I love sharing this picture because I found the whole situation hilarious...
Had a ballast die getting the veg system ready for transplant and these had to stay in the cloner 7-10 days longer than I had planned.

I'm on day one of my setup, running Aerogarden nutrients with Tetra Whisper 10i aquarium filter/pumps in each bucket. Curious if you have any advice with the nutrients, as I've always just used the aerogarden liquid plant food. It seems to work well and has something in it that keeps a solid pH.

I figure the Aerogarden people know a lot more about the science shit than I do, so it's a variable I take out of the equation because it'll remain constant throughout. Maybe I won't get the extra oomph at the end like some of those flowering steroids etc, but with my lack of experience and need to get results, I'm going to go with tried and true, see what happens.

I tell you what, these auto GGs are fucking flying tho, three days since germination:
