Advice on lighting for 3-4 plants

Im in the middle of building my grow room it will be a tv cabinet I have tipped onto its side with a door build onto the front etc etc.

I have 6 feminised seeds on there way but im stuck as with what lights to go out and buy.

I will be making a DWC unit which I saw on a thread so i will be growing hydroponics and want yields to keep me in bud and maybe sell a small amount if I can.

200w envirolights seem pretty good buy yields not that brilliant but growing say 1oz per plant is all im after to be honest. Or loads of smaller cfl's which Ive read work better than just one big one. I will try to grow just 3-4 plants at a time in a perpetual method so I can harvest one or two plants every 2 weeks.

A 150 or 250w HPS is also on my mind but not to sure just need some advice to be honest with you.

Dont want to spend my hard earned cash on the wrong lights to find my grow wasnt worth it.

BTW 250 hps is the biigest I can go really with the costs of electricity in the UK and running pumps and fans also trying to keep the costs as low as possible.

The 200 watt Envirolight or the 150 HPS should be enough for your needs it sounds like. Both of those options will also have more manageable heat than a 250 watt HPS too. A very rough estimate of how much bud you'll get is 0.5-1g per watt of lighting, with 1g per a watt an attainable, but some what difficult, target. So if you are looking for 3 oz from 3 plants they would need 85-170 watts of lighting. Maybe you could try the 150 HPS and add a couple of low watt CFLs for side lighting?

Sounds ideal for that type of grow space :) ventilation is your next feat

Given your criteria I would suggest HPS and just stick to one light, 250w would be my choice, but that's up to you. There is just no other type of light that compares on a straight lumens per watt ratio and lumens per watt directly translates to yield per dollar (or in your case per pound).

I'd skip adding extra cfl's, and just get the largest HPS you are comfortable paying electric for.

Don't forget though that in order to flower plants in a perpetual grow, no matter how many or how often, requires that you also have veg light(s) and space. You can't veg and flower in the same cabinet when your flower lights will have to run 12/12 all the time and all that plays into your total power bill.

A couple 4' flouro's for veg and a single 250hps for flower would do nicely no matter how heavily you smoke.
