Hey guys, been a while since I have got on rollitup, but need some advice on starting some late beans. I'm at 36 latitude Eastern Ky and already have some stuff out, put out between May and June. Now since we have heavy fly overs and all I am starting a lot of late plantings, this was my plan for the year because they will be smaller and this will prevent them from being seen so easily.
I'm planning on starting between 800 to 1,000 beans between now and July the 6th. What is the usual yield when plants are placed in the ground now? I will keep them under 20/4 lighting more than likely until around July 20th and the start putting them out. May keep them outdoors instead, not sure yet. They will probably be planted just in native soil, which is very rich around here with a high P time released fertilizer and some supplemental jacks classic nutes every week, small dose sprinkled around the base and water crystals as well.
The seeds are all photoperiod and regulars so I will be doing a lot of plucking due to males. Is an ounce per plant pretty obtainable this way? I will probably take some cuts for late clones as well tomorrow and hopefully get them in the ground by late July. It seems like one year, a few years ago I put some 3 week old seedlings in the ground around July 25th and got about an ounce or close to an ounce per plant doing this but dont really remember. Do my holes have to be large for late plantings since the roots wont really have time to grow large?
I was thinking about 2 gallon holes to 5 gallon per plant, about a foot or so in width and about a foot deep. I will put two in each hole since I will have to be sexing and will have so many to dig. Some I will dig small 2 foot wide by 10 foot long trenches and put about 20 to 30 per, and once sexed will have plenty of room for the females to thrive.
Just please take the time to give me some advice and pointers on doing this late thing and coming out with a decent harvest this year. I will be preventing mold with greencure and maybe buy some Regalia as well, since I usually have to deal with bud rot and its very rainy this year also. Been checking in on everyones grows this year on the forum and everything is looking good guys!
