Advice for a 300 w Galaxy Hydro

I've been using CFL's in a trash can and friend just gave me a 300 w Galaxy Hydro. What size box should I build and can you all give me advice on fans?

I was thinking probably a 2x2.5x5 box, but I have no clue on ventilating.

Thanks!

I use two of those in two cabinets. The cabinets measuring 70x33x26"

The light itself heats to about 86f on the glass. 82f on the back. The vent fans on the back of the light, pull in and blow out the sides. I measured the temps using a Fluke 568 laser thermometer.

I have a single 6" ventilation to each cabinet. T-fit to a single 6" and vortex exhaust fan in the ceiling (Hot air is pumped out the room). Carbon filter. Blower speed is high medium. Holes cut on the opposite side of the cabinet. On the lower bottom, opposite wall of the 6" ventilation hole at the side top. Smaller holes on bottom are covered with 3M filter stuff. It's blue and reusable. I don't want dust in my exhaust fan.

With my set up as I have it. The cabinets run 6 degrees Fahrenheit hotter then the outside room. The outside room measures around 105 square feet. Room temperature of 68. The plants run about 74-76.

6" wall mounted fans inside the cabinets. Soil grow. 2 gallon smart pots. Flower when they're 6" tall. Six plants per cabinet. The light doesn't get lowered. I have the plants grow up into it.

On you're cabinet. You really need more then five feet height. I find the sweet spot for the LEDs to be about 35". With the colas not getting closer then 24". Any closer then that and they act like they're growing in a tanning bed. 300 LED will cover one plant per square foot. You're covered on that. It's the height.

Thanks for all this great info! So, you have one light per box or 2?

One light per cabinet. Currently, Girl scout cookies and Bubblegum are in flower. (Bubblegum phenotype without the lateral branches.)

Light to the tip top of the plants. 30". They're loving the LEDs.

Since its been raining. Indoor RH is in the high 60's. The 45pint black&decker dehumidifier is pulling over a gallon a day out the room a day. Cabinets are running 50-55 humidity inside with an outside RH of 45. PPM of dehumidifier water is 50. Good enough to water the plants.

Room temp of 68f. Cabinet #1 runs 74f. Cabinet #2, 76f. 5000btu window a.c. unit.

Oh...and ....Thirps suck a$$. They stayed away from the bubblegum in cabinet #1. but went buck wild on the on the GSC in cabinet two.

Fertilizer is 15-30-15 for the whole duration of the plants. Flush the last 10 days.

I have one Galaxy and One Mars together in a box about as big as yours. I run my plants up to 1.5 inches from the glass with no problems, anything closer than that and I have issues. Check out my grows, they may be helpful in your building :)
