im here in cali and the RH in my apt is around 30-35%. as such, the humidity in my tent is around 35% at the moment. as i understand it, i need to have humidity at around 60% for veg and 50% for flowering. I tried adding a bowl of water to see if it would evaporate and it did help but now a whole lot. what can be done here? i have a humidifier in my room running right now and its not helping much since i have the bedroom window open. anything i can do? im hesitant to put a humidifer in there because of it putting out too much moisture with the day and night temp changes.

I run one humidifier ($15 steam in a 5 gallon tote) 24hrs a day during the winter in my room, and have another set to run with it at 1/2hr on 1hr off during really dry times and while in veg. They use a ton of water, so I had to make bigger reservoirs, the factory 1 gallon lasted about 16hrs! My rooms walls are coated in plastic now because the sheetrock molded in one spot near the humidifier (even with fans blowing). If you have too much exhaust and fresh air, your humidity is going to be stuck around the level of your inlet's. The humidifiers I use are around 500w each, so I wouldn't reccomend them on a tight electric watch or budget, let alone with tons of frsh air. Dont bother with the cool mist humidifiers, they dont do shit! Old school works best. And yes, when the lights go out, the humidity will raise in the tent, so buy a seperate timer. Once you go digital timer, you wont go back!

I would suggest leaving it at 35% for the entire grow. Yes it may be a touch low for veg, but seems right to me for flowering. If your babies are growing atm, then I say leave it be and spend $$ on lights and fans. :)

i actually havent started growing yet. i was just watching jorge cervantes video and he mentioned the percentages for both veg and flowering. i just dont want to plant the seeds and not have them sprout up due to humidity.

Glad to hear it. As with most things I'm learning slowly, your room setup will change as needed (on the fly). Unless you've a proven method already in place. Just be careful not to overdo your worrying. Keep us updated and remember, mother nature fluctuates a tad too.
