Just got some new worm humus in. Says pH 7.2 on the bag and from my knowledge worm castings are around pH neutral.

Now this bag of biobizz worm humus has a pH 4.2! Is that a bad thing? I’ve measured some years ago with the same pH pen and was around pH 7. I’m using an apera ph60s so accurate readings

They smell ok… no foul smell. Are they ok to use or should I avoid?

Ph4?? That sounds pretty high but im halfway through my 4th 40lt bag currently. Its all good! Transplanting some cherry tomatoes soon

Was going to add it to a simple peat basepotting mix so don’t want more acidic things going in there.

Just strange as it’s mentioned everywhere worm castings are around pH neutral. The bag I tested previously was around 7. For it to be pH 4.2 something must be wrong. That’s more acidic than peat by itself!

I’ll be testing it on outdoor plants first. Ordered another bag from different manufacture to compare

yeah tis odd, especaly from biobizz, i think thats the best thing to do if useing peat based compost, as you say, dont want more acidity ,or your just going to have to add more stuff to sort it out.
see what biobizz have to say about it, seems like something they should be aware of, i pity growers who throw stuff together without testing, then complaine there grow isnt performing as it should.

Exactly man. Perhaps the food source for them has changed?

Wanna know something funny? Their bio bizz light mix is rated at pH 6.2 but out the bag it’s coming in at 5.2!

I’ll need to contact them.

Pen is calibrated and measurets X.XX pH so very sensitive.

I got some gold label special mix light and that’s coming in at pH 6.00. Much better! Gonna do a side by side and compare.

My current grow is suffering from low pH. Plant magic soil is at ph 4.8 out the bag lol

Is it necessary to regulate the pH when using the Biobizz products?
In general, when using organic nutrients, pH adjusting is not necessary. This is because the Biobizz products tend to lower the pH naturally until it comes to the optimal range of 6.2-6.3.
However, in some cases the base pH of the tap water can be too high or the grower chooses to use RO water with a very low pH. In those cases, you can use Bio·Up and Bio·Down to regulate the pH of the mix before watering your plants.
you have everything dialed in, so deffo contact them, could get some freebies out of them that might be interesting

This is measuring straight from bag no water. My water is ph 8 but very soft so has little alkalinity and acidifies soil over time.

Will do, it’s hard to even find any relative information on acidic castings

The allmix is ph7. So much better overall man. Starting seedlings and everything never had an issue. Only when overwatered. Less waterings in sum defo
