About Sexin' Seedlings?

Hi evevryone,

I am new to the site I love it BTW! Got a question about how long after a seedling sprouts, can u start the 12/12 cycle so they will begin to bud so you can weed out the males?

i've always waited at least 8 weeks from breaking thru soil until 12/12 light cycle. it must go thru a full veg cycle before flowering. from my experience.
 
8 weeks veg'? wow. that's a long time. What lighting do you use? I veg' for 4 weeks max'. But on saying that, I do tend to veg' my clones for longer... up to 8 weeks, as I've got the time, and I like to prune. But from seed, 4 weeks veg.
 
i've just always heard a "new" plant had to grow at least 8 weeks to reach proper genetic maturity. i'm under shop lights for veg but after 5 weeks they are definately big enough to flower. my clones go straight from root tray into flower room. no veg. i'm growing 1 oz bonsia colas.
 
Sea of green... I did that at my last grow. We had about 40 plants all flowering through at different times. Like we'd have 10 through one week, a week later and we'd have 5, there'd be another 40 vegging too.

This grow is a personal one, I've got another one much larger that i do with someone else. I've just gotten into pruning, well topping. That's why I give the clones so long to veg'. I might as well while I'm waiting for the first lot to flower.
 
Well we prune, and they love it especially the Holland plants we have, it is like a weed (lol) no pun intended. If we snip the tops to all the outer lying bud tops we get 2 more sprouted out of that top it has allowed us to keep our plants low growing, & they spread out like a bush instead of growing upwards. We are just starting out we haven't had our first harvest yet, hopefully 4-6 more weeks, since 911 you can't get GOOD smoke unless you grow, and baby your own, and 4get affording it. WOW! I have trouble getting my seedlings to grow without stretching thier stalks, we keep the light as close as possible so they don't have to stretch to reach it, we can't figure the solution out to that problem yet. Oh you know what else we do, and our plants love it, we bend them, and tie them down usually a few branches a week while in veggie stage, and we cut back to bending them only 2 times a month when flowering, this is suppose to cause shock, and then they take off growing like fire in hell:fire: , be gentle with them if you try it, bread ties work great, and won't cut into your stalks, also when you bend the whole plant over, and the stalk does crack a bit you will get two new tops that start growing, our friend has a blueberry strain, and it absolutley loves these tech. The lights are a mix of grow bulbs, and sunshine bulbs, no we are not using HPS or MH. We keep the lights right at 1.5 - 2.0 inches from the plants at all times. We are new growers & we are doing alot of experiments, but we really don't mess with the seedlings too much, we do have air circulation in the room, but not enough to cause the stalks to shoot straight up. They say some wind is good it can cause the stalk to toughen up, and support bigger buds. How true that is IDK. So I hope I answered all of your questions I appreciate the help from every1. The fan(wind) does indeed strengthen the stems, that's a fact.
