Looking for opinions on this seedling. It’s hard core religious in that it prays like no other seedling I have seen. Either that or it’s decided to declare victory over something. It may be hard to see from the picture but the angle of the leaves is a literal V
This is 12 days from seed. It grew the first leaves right away, but still hasn’t started the second. It’s kind of been frozen like this for a week.
Ebb and flow
Humidity 62
Ph 6
Temp day/night 73f 65f
Ec 0.5 3/4 mix of ro and tap water
GHE trio nutes with a little cal mag
Qb96 elite v2 leds
Did a little looking around on the botany aspect of it and the cool science terminology is hyponastic response. In general that seems to be caused by root zone flooding or lack of light which produce ethylene and cause the underside to grow faster than the top pushing the leaves up. I’ve also seen people here suggest it’s a reaction to too much light that causes the plant to reduce the leaf surface area exposed to light which makes sense.
Light started at about 11k lux. I dropped it to 9 to see if perhaps that was too high for this one. No change over a couple day period. So now I’ve gone the opposite way and bumped lux slightly to 13k, and I’ll let it sit for a couple days and see what happens. The seedling is sharing a flood tray with another strain that is doing fine.
I’m not panicking about it and I have 3 other very healthy seedlings, but if someone sees something I don’t I would appreciate the feedback. It may just be a slow grower, but 12 days is a long time for a plant that doesn’t want to open up and is showing no signs of growing more leaves.
