A new cheap, versital, easy to make, hydroponics set up! I need opinions

hey guys, I wanted to share an idea with you, and hopefully get some feedback! I think I've designed something pretty cool!

Let me begin with this, I have done a couple grows using large soil pots and HID lights, and had great results, so now I want to do something a little bit more complicated, and better suited to my needs.
Over on another site, there is a gentleman that is having spectacular results using VERY small plants in a perpetual SOG set up. Basically he vegs his plants till they are 3-6 inches tall, and then flowers them, to get plants that are about 24 inches tall and yield about 8-15 grams a plant, but he's using 40 or so plants, so his yield is pretty good per week, and I need to supply me and my girlfriend, who are both medical users.
He's using 16 ounce party cups and soil. and seems to be kicking ass!
But unfortunately, I travel a bit, not much, but I can't water everyday. And using such small pots requires daily watering and care.
So the easiest solution is some sort of aeroponics, or bubbleponics set up, BUT since I would need to move the plants around a lot, to optimize the distance to the light, I can't really do a standard set up, like with a tray and a pieces of plexiglass on top, or a tupper ware container, so I designed a setup, using party cups and kitty litter trays!
So here is a set up I designed

Ingredients:
16 ounce part cups
bailing wire, or galvanized wire
alligator clips
a hydroponic manifold (I will use a piece of 2 inch PVC, with a 1” adapter on one end, a seal on the other end and a bunch of threaded barbs to slip vinyl tubing on.
vinyl tubing
a kitty litter, or similar tray (I might end up using a cement mixing tray)

some PVC pipe
a 5 gallon bucket or similar

Here it goes!

  1. take a 16 ounce “party cup” and using a hole-saw to put a 1 7/8 inch hole in the bottom of it. Then put in a 2 inch net pot, so that the cup is upside down, and the pot is hanging in it.
  2. Take a drill and cut a few holes around the rim of the cut, this will help the water drains, make sure to keep the rim intact for strength.
  3. Then get steel bailing wire from home depot, the thicker stuff would be better.
  4. Take the wire and loop it around the base of the “cup” then let about a foot of the wire go up over the cup, this is the mount for the watering hose
  5. take the alligator clips and fix them to the wire somehow best, some alligator clips have an end that can be soldered, so you can stick the wire in, and then crush that end and it will make a good bond.
  6. Take your tray, and drill a hole in it to fit your PVC pipe, this is the drain, so seal it well. And will go to your bucket under your grow
  7. Fill the tray with your party cups and then run the tubing from your manifold, to the alligator clips, these you need to flex and position so that your plants get the optimal amount of water to the roots.
With this set up, the water will come out of the vinyl tubing, hit the plant roots, then drain down the tray, into a bucket, then be pumped back up. You could easily scale it to be a few plants, or using a kiddy pool for 100's of plants.
The advantage is, to move a plant, all you need to do is un-clip the hosing, and then move it. I will actually have 3 trays, 2 on the floor of the cabinet, and then one up a bit, about a foot, to put it higher to the light, for younger plants.
Also, you could easily just add a mister to the cup, and make it an aeroponics set up.
Anyway, anyone have any opinions? I'm starting some seeds to make moms, to get clones, so when I get that, I’ll have a grow journal and some pictures and diagrams!
