Hey guys,
this advice is for those who are growing larger quantities of plants, and have the troubling issue of bugs eating your grow/roots/whatever. I actually learned of this from my parents, yet they werent utilizing this for pot, they just like to garden.
Anyways, I've always had issues of putting a substance that is lethal to bugs on a plant which i later planned on consuming. You never know what is going to remain on the plant and what could react poorly to human consumption. my mom likes to grow lots of vegetables and herbs but shes always ran into problems with bugs, specifically mites but there are many other culprits. This past year she heard of praying mantis' as a natural pesticide. She ordered a few cases of praying mantis eggs (each case births a few hundred of these critters) and followed the directions on the bag. Soon she put about 500 praying mantis' into the garden, and as natural selection occured, the praying mantis' survived. These guys eat lots of bugs, they are carnivorous, but they wont eat the plants. Especially for those growing outside, and in high risk areas of mites or any other kind of bug, this could be a viable solution.
They only cost about 12 bucks to order, and i can attest to their efficiency. They are eating machines. You will have no unwanted bugs on your grow.
Im not sure where she ordered them from, but if you google praying mantis eggs you get plenty of results. Heres one: Praying Mantis Egg Cases - Free Shipping
Let me know if this is helps...
