A little help with first grow.

Hey guys, I've been scouring this site for the past few weeks, and have now started my first grow. I have one plant that's now eight days old from sprouting. It seemed to be doing quite well (possibly growing a little slow?), but the last day or two i've noticed the leaves are drooping and are slightly curled in places. I've done a lot of reading since on over watering/under watering, nute deficiencies etc, and browsed a lot of other growers seedling pics. However, mine don't quite look like any others i've seen so far. I'm using Coco medium and i'm definitely not over watering, and using bugger all nutes. (much less than a 1/4 of the recomended just to see if it might speed things up a bit). Judging by the pics, does it look like it might be under watering? I've watered once till run off, then nothing for 6 days, then just a sprinkle of water yesterday to see if it'd perk up a bit. I've just done another water till run off tonight to see how it looks tomorrow. Or could it possibly be too much heat? I'm using a 400W Son T Agro in an air cooled hood, at around 14-15" from top of plant. I have my thermometer/hygrometer at same height and heat varies between 26-30 degrees celcius.(generally at 28c). Any help would be awesome as i've got some good seeds on the way, and want to learn as much as possible before I germinate them. Cheers guys, and thanks for all of your input to this site. I'd be fucked without it :) Some pics.

Stop giving it nutes..it doesn't need them yet..you won't speed it up..you'll kill it.Get some perlite in that soil when you transplant if you make it that far. NO NUTES until the plant is 3 weeks old. Stop sprinkling water on it..water it untill water runs out the drainage holes and then wait until it needs water again

Whatever soil you put your plant in chances are there'll be enough nutes in there for all least 4-5 weeks, ive had afew grows under my belt now and i killed the frist two by doing what your doing now and adding nutes when they ain't needed yet. Plus in adding nutes chances are you'll also cause a nute deff because there'll be two much of one than the other, then you'll have no end of problems. start giving your plants 50% nutes after the frist 5 weeks' then start to go up slow' are you using a ppm meter? your plant will tell you when it needs something, i.e the leaves will start to droop when water is needed, when your leaves are out flat thats when its enjoying its enviorment. hope this helps abit scunk

Thanks for the quick replies. I read a lot of posts that said to add a small amount of nutes to the water for growing in Coco, but also read a fair amount of posts saying not to. Should I start just using filtered water ph'd to around 6.0? And no, I don't have a ppm meter, just the ph kit. So would you guys assume from the pics that it just needs some water? Since i've just watered till run off with the nute added water, should I see how it goes tomorrow or do a flush? Thanks again.

Another thing I am doing right now is I keep the water for them in a small bucket overnight to allow the Chlorine to evap. Also I use a t5 right now, I have a 400 and 1k for later but even when I had seedlings in the hydro set ups I always waited till they were 10 to 12 inches tall before I ever turned on the hps lights.

I would leave it be for a few days and see if it gets past the nutrients it didn't need. Flushing may drown it a bit and take even longer to recover

I've got a T5 fixture with two 18W bulbs, but wasn't sure that they'd put out enough lumens? Also, it's winter here in Australia so the HPS lamp it keeping my temps up throughout the day. (Don't trust leaving my panel heater on 24/7, or when i'm at work)

Hey all, well today they are looking a little better. Not completely droopy, but still a little at the ends. What do you experienced growers reckon? Does the sprout look ok, or do you think there could be a problem? Thanks in advance.

How can it be too much water when I didn't water them for 6 days? They were watered yesterday, and they have now improved. Also i'm using barely enough nutes to even register. There's plenty of peeps who use nutes in Coco from day one, and don't run into problems. Are you experienced?

It's Coco!! Have you even read the thread, or just looked at the pictures? I just posted that it was watered yesterday. And people told me this was the best site for seeking advice, lol.

They don't look that bad! I use Coco and love it. Man, watering isn't that big of a deal. Water it until it comes out the bottom. Not a ton, just pour slowly until it starts coming out. You wanna see some water in the tray. Then, probably every other day. It is real easy to tell if that Coco Not is dry. It is obvious. It drains much quicker than soil. Most people fuck up by overdoing it . . whatever it is . .water . . nutes, etx., .
