Hello! New grower here. I have some bagseed growing and I think its time for a feeding? My leaves are yellowing and from what Ive read it looks like a N def. I have 5-1-1 Organic based Fish Fert will this be good enough? Im not sure how old my seedling is, I think 3 weeks? Anyways heres the pic, you can clearly see yellowing and leaves curling down a little. Thanks for the tips!

Edit: Fish fert says it wont burn and to use a TBSP per gallon of water? Should I use that much or give it a half or quarter feeding? My grow book says 1/4 strength but I just want to make sure cuz it says it wont burn.. Also the leaf that looks like it was snipped it just curled under that far.. Thanks again :)

its too soon to use fertilizer. dont add any nutes until the first 3 pointed leafs are fully formed. If you are using miracle grow soil or any soil with time release nutes dont add any nutes through the veg stage unless it shows a deficiency. A seedling has enough stored energy to last it the first couple weeks. Feeding it anything is overkill, especially if the soil you are using has nutrients in it. What you are seeing is not a deficiency but your plant being pissed off at you for feeding it too early. Just my two cents.

Well I havent really fed it any nutes yet. When I started them I used regular top soil I had in my garage and my seeds sprouted in that but I didnt like the drainage and it just felt like moist mud... so I got rid of that and transplanted into Burpee eco friendly organic seed starting mix which is made from coco fiber. There is some nutes in the soil, the package says 0.06-0.03-0.03. I have 2 seedlings (only one shown) and the other one has 3 bladed leaf set already fully formed and the next set (should be 5 bladed) coming up, that one still looks pretty healthy, nice and green.

I did give the yellower one a very light feeding last time I watered it, maybe 10% strenght if that.. The water I am using is just city tap... I usually let it sit out for a while before watering though.. I did test the pH of my run off on this plant and it seemed high. I dont know exactly because I just have a pool tester but it seemed like it was between 7.8-8.2 (i know, high..). The pH of the water I used to water when I tested it was 6.8ish. What can I do to help correct the high pH? I have not tested the ph of the other plant that is doing better, I will test that tonight.

Edit: sorry im stoned lol I did feed it nutes actually but not before it started turning yellow. when i did feed it i feel like it helped but it was such a small feed i really dont know.. ill chill out on the nutes on this one for a week or so see what happens

ok, heres my other one... and actually this one is starting to turn a bit yellow as well. I have fed this one no nutes at all, besides for what came in the soil already..

Ive also got some chamomile seedlings in the same soil that seem to be doing fine, although they are 2 weeks younger (about) than these seedlings, would it be too early to tell if they are being hurt by the soil?

well i just gave both a 1/4 feeding, if that hurts or kills them oh well, only bagseed and is probably a sign i need to get better ferts and soils so thats what ill do if they die, if not well. hurray?

I fed them 1/4 strength 5-1-1, they were looking not so good about a week ago but today they look a lot better and the growth has started to kick in. should i feed them again the next time i water them?
