94 watts of CFL - Too much?

I've got a small grow box that's going to work with just one plant for now.

I'm wondering if 96 watts is way too much for one plant in veg?

It's all in CFL by the way.

Here's a picture of the basic layout while I get it all finished up.

please dont confuse him by talking about the incandesent equivelent numbers, it will only cause problems when he says I got however many 100w cfls when he's only using the 26w bulbs. when we discuss cfl wattage on here we refer to actual watts, not equivelent watts.

that should be ok for vegging, but i'd for sure add as many as you possibley can still, more light=more energy=more growth,.

if thats a 42w and two 27w's then for one plant thats fine up to 1 ft or so prolly more but growth will prolly slow a bit after that

Yep - that's exactly what it is. It's making a LOT of heat, so I really need to get the fans in there ASAP. I'll pick up some tomorrow and make sure they're plenty high powered.

Also, would putting some ice in a cup or whatever help cool the box down significantly for a while?

i got a cab 12.5"x21" by 28"H with a 150 hps and 3 26 wt cfls and the hps is cooler

i cool it with 5 92mm pc fans 99cent each and $20 12v power supply from radio

Where did you get your PC fans? I can't seem to find any around here. I could get them online, but I'd rather get them quickly.

Oh, and I ended up using just the 42 watt last night as it got WAY hot in there.

i bout at microcenter 80mm suk 92mm or higher is what you need if i had the space i would have used 120mm's radio shack walmart and bestbuy carry a few but more expensive a computer superstore youre best bet,theres always buy it now on ebay but stay away from those cheap chinese made ones they suk

i recommend you get a 70 or 150w hps depending on your space size, ran remote ballast i'd be much cooler lowes got 70's for 40 bux 150's for 60 your gonna spend that in bulbs and fans cause ive done several micro cabs and anything outside of vegging and flowering 1 lst'd 12/12 plant cfl's dont cut it cause once you start adding lights its enless lights and socket and more/bigger fans people always say "i can get closer with the cfl's" i got a 70w hps ina 10"x13" speaker can get it within 2"s of tops one 92mm fan exhasting through homemade light trap and one inside blowing on bulb stays +1 maybe +2F always makes a great veg box for that other cab
