my "friend" has an 8 x 8 x 8 space he's going to convert into a grow room. he knows pretty much what he needs, but wants to make sure he isn't forgetting anything. this will be paid for by an investor that wants to know an estimate of the cost.

the room will be divided into an 8 x 4 flowering area, a 4 x 2 vegging area, and the rest is for storage and/or work space. these supplies are only for the flowering area because he has what is neccesary for the veg room. he also has plenty of heavy duty extension cords, oscillating fans, 3 gallon pots, etc. due to an older grow room he had been running. (that room was plundered by an asshole burglar.)

here's his list of supplies he has come up with so far...
1 - electrical panel to wire the room
2 - 600w 6" air cooled inline HPS lights
2 - 6" inline fans
? - heavy duty ducting
1 - heavy duty digital timer
2 - 25 ft. rolls of mylar
1 - carbon filter/scrubber
2 - 4 x 4 flood trays
1 - room exhaust fan
1 - room intake fan

this will be a soil based grow operation. soil, nutes, seeds, ph up/down, etc. has already been considered and factored into his estimate of $1500 USD.

has he missed anything big or obvious? is his estimate going to be accurate? any thoughts or ideas are greatly appreciated.

looks like you got enough to start, i would suggest going hydro and doing sog if you can get the 120 clones youd need. if you do it right youd pull down 90 zips. check out al b fucts stickey thread in the hydro forum. for those numbers you might have to change the lights to 1000 watts tho.

we're pretty sure about the 600s, 1000s just seem like a waste of electricity for the lumen gains... probably gonna do 10 "Dutch Delight" from flying dutchmen seeds in soil. (the 10 pack of DD come with freebies @ Attitude; LA Woman, LA Confidential, and Lemon Skunk.) these plants are hopefully going to get 4 - 8 oz. each x 13 plants = more than enough for us... not to mention going hydro would add additional $$ to get the setup going....

Just a note..if your room is 4'x8' you are gonna have a hard time with 2 4'x'4 trays..unless you are going to have access on both sides. I have 2 4x4 trays and my room is 7'6" x 10" and it is a tight sqeeze to get around the trays.. you might try 3' x3' if you want to be able to move aound your trays at all..otherwise it looks like you are good to go..

great piece of info, we may skip the trays. they seem expensive and we can probably build something custom with wood and plastic sheeting for the same purpose.

Yes they are expensive..I almost buit my own out of pool liner..you can get it at home depot in 10' wide rolls cut to length and I think it is about $6 a foot..I used it for my floor..you could easily make a tray out of it..it's basically just black rubber.
