70w hps bulb wiring

i've got a small veg area, about 1.5ftx2ftx2ft. right now i have 4 cfl's and i'm thinking about switching to a single 70w hps bulb. my main question is with a hps bulb as small as 70watts would i still need a ballast? any help would be great.

yes you do. go get the ones at home deopt. there like 50 bux plus tax if u got it....... just unscrew the two ends of the peice of copper the ballast,socket, etc.. is connected to. it stays all together so u can dangle the light right above your ladies. ballast nd all..... i just did this like 3 days ago. i just nailed some nails in the wall straight up in a single line. just hang it from one of the screw holes on the peice of copper.......... Pe@ce...

u might want 2 actuly for that small area. just put um right on the top of it...
