7 Days in the dark!!

OK, so New England had a bad storm that left a lot of us without power for up to 7 days, some maybe more. I checked my plants daily during this time and they seemed to be holding up OK. Made sure they had enough water but not too much since the lights and heat were off. Also they had been on a heavy bloom mix and watered the day before going dark. They appeared normal up until about day 5 or so when the very top growth started to look extremely light green (guessing from lack of chlorophyll production). 20 were in the 3rd week of flower and 30 were in the cutting stages. The lights went back on to there regular schedules and the heat is back to normal. Questions I have are these: 1)Has anyone else gone through this, and what was the outcome for you?, 2) Do you think that now there is a higher chance of going hermie on these plants? 3) How long of a delay do you think this will cause in development?
As always thanks in advance for any assistance and wish me luck with the rest of this grow :)

All you can do is ride it out and hope they don't hermie. Just be sure to give them lots of love! Your cuttings should be fine, as long as they have moisture they can survive in the dark but wont root until light returns.
Look into getting a backup generator that you can use in a power outage. I have a 1000W Generator sitting in the garage for whenever my power interrupts the plant cycle.

1. i have, no problems yet
2. No because you are giving the plant a "rest cycle" which would force female flowers rather than male and you are getting more trichome production in the dark as well.
3. It will delay their growth for maybe a week, depends on your strain honestly. Add lost days to flower time

Good Luck!

wow man 7 days is a long time. i dont think your chances of having hermies goes up too much because after the lights came back on they were on their normal schedule. one time i had to stash a pot with a 3 day old seedling in a closet for 2 days. nothing but darkness. i brought it out after the 2+ days and it was light green/yellow like you said but plenty of light brought it back to life. you shouldnt have too much of as issue if you start to see life in them again, but man 7 days is a long time, especially in these crucial flowering stages.

The ones in veg will be fine, your yield on the flowers will be reduced, but Im sure they are worth continuing!

i agree with culture , they are gonna be fine , lets just hope the green comes back. if ALL the green comes back then you might not be affected much at all , if not then you will lose a lil yield , but its well worth keepin um goin strong.

serious stress an genetics is the only way to cause a herm. you wont have that prob cause you didnt "freak" nothin out , you just let um rest just like culture said.

i went into the hospital for a week. i left my vegging plants under a 100 watt light in the closet. when i got back, i flipped on the 1000 watt but put the light up pretty high. the next day, about half of each plant was dead. in researching it, all i came up with was "light shock". i was shocked all right!

good luck!

OK I am giving an update since my initial post. Thanks to all who took a min to comment. :) I put lights back on schedule 12/12 for flowering and 24/0 for the cuttings. I am noticing some brown spots on the leaves on the nodes close to the top BUT the top growth is appearing normal. Also because the foliage was searching for any light there is some stretching of the large fan leaves which is no problem. Once the new growth gets going full speed I'll lop these off. Good news for the flowering plants, the light green is practically gone already and renewed growth seems to be established. I have a lot of diff strains going. African Buzz, Pineapple Express, NYC Diesel, Black Jack, Skywalker, Tangerine Dream and a bunch of others. The cuttings seem to have fair worse, BUT they are pulling through also. The set of larger fan leaves just above the next developing set did curl and/or turn brown but the newest emerging set looks fine. So over all I will probably get a set back in finishing but not losing any plants. *Sigh of relief* Thanks for all your posts.
