I have a new room above my garage I am working on soon. It is 12'x24' I was thinking of using a 6'x12' area to grow. Should I totally seperate the veg area from the flowering area by a wall. I have never grown before but just got my medical card and am gonna start soon. Would this area be big enough? I will be using 1 1000w HPS to start. Not sure of anything else LOL any help would be appreciated

with one light, I think 5x5, or even 4x4 would be good. And yes you definitely need to separate (light proof) between veg and flower. While ine veg they will be under 18-24 hours light, while flowering they will only need 12 hours light. If you let light get to your flowering girls they will herm on you.

Ok thats what I thought. So I will build to seperate areas. I guess my veg room could be smaller then. So is that how getting hermies happens. That will cause seeds in your buds correct? Lots to learn but it is fun :)

Yes, light leaks in flower can cause hermis, leading to seeds in your buds. There are other things that can cause hermis as well: stress, genetics, etc.

If you're a beginner like me you might want to look into grow tents, easy to setup and minimal light leaks

I found a grow tent on craigslist not too far from me for $75 I should probably get that till I decide what the hell I am gonna do with this space.
