hey all,
I've been getting great results from my 1000w and thought it would be time for an upgrade, but thanks to PG&E's pissass rates (currently on a tiered system up to 44c a kwh) i was thinking about a generator, so I found this briggs and stratton home power generator, which i could just hook up to my current gas line and run my grow lights offa that. http://www.electricgeneratorsdirect.com/Briggs-&-Stratton-40248/p889.html. whatcha guys think? imean a $900 a month gas bill for 5 1000 watters is surely better than a $2400 a month electric bill.
Oh and how would cooling 5 of those fuckers work anyway? imean my garage (thats right i live in the garage) heats up by like 10 degrees when the light turns on which is nice in the winter but once the hot summer rolls around neither i or my plants will be able to handle THAT. but i do have no problem cutting a bigass 12' hole in my wall to exhaust them, but id rather not buy a a/c cuz that just uses more electricity and i would feel really stupid paying for electricity to make the heat and then paying for electricity to get rid of that heat, I just made.
oh and since its a home generator, I've been hoping that it would be able to handle the load of running 24/7 with a draw of 5000watts.
thanks and any advice appreciated, If i do go through with this, ill definetly post a guide, I'd be using co2, DWC bubble buckets, awesome nutes, awesome lighting, the works. (its all medical btw )
and one added side benefit, everyone knows the powe companies look for huge spikes in power usage, like this, but I dont think anyone would be on the lookout for a spike in gas usage would they?
