i was wondering if i was to buy a 600watt hps grow light and have it in a 7 foot tall 3x3 growbox with the plants growing to the height of aprox 5 1/2 foot with the pots being 1 foot tall (5 gallon buckets cut off to 1 foot) would the light penatrate through the whole plant's floiage and get a high yeild and quality? or would it just be the top half of the plant that got good bud? i wolud have to figure out all the venting issuses and fan systems but for now i was just wondering.. and if so what type of yeild could you expect from this box with 5plants (bag weed seeds) for now

I think 400W would suffice and decrease wasted light and heat issues in a 3X3. Not sure? Gonna need cool-tube, etc.

you will need excellent venting/cooling to run a 600 in that space but if you can make it work it will do a good job of penetrating the canopy.

if you know what you are doing and the grow goes well you can get .5 gm/watt or about 10 ounces for your setup.

what is a cooltube? and i just figured the more light in a small space would be better for boosting the yeild and potency upp.. i would have to have a fan and ductting to cool the light then i wolud need a good fan for exhaust.. i'd have to hook up a filter to it.. i could just make my own to save some money.. i'd have to have a great supply of in comeing air.. just wondering tho would it be better to have a stronger fan to pull air in or take it out. and would a 1 foot high 5 gallon bucket support a 5-6 foot plant? becaue i would clone then place in blackened, cutoff 2L bottles then transplant into the 5 gallon bucket then flower when the plant was about 3 foot high... sound alright?

what is a cooltube? it is a brand of device that lets you hook up an air vent to cool the light. you can also use an aircooled hood.

.. just wondering tho would it be better to have a stronger fan to pull air in or take it out. - stronger fan to take air out

and would a 1 foot high 5 gallon bucket support a 5-6 foot plant? becaue i would clone then place in blackened, cutoff 2L bottles then transplant into the 5 gallon bucket then flower when the plant was about 3 foot high... sound alright? - right

sounds like you;re ready to start

now i have determined that i'll have the box being 2'1 wide x 3' long and 7' high.. i will use a 400 watt hps.. this box will be for flowering only... i was going to use a squirl cage fan for exhaust and one bathroom fan at the bottom of the box for inlet... i want to use another up top to pull out air (exhaust) on the opposite side of the squirl cage. then have another fan that blows on the tops of the plants at all times... i'll have the hps 1 foot away from the tips of the plants at all times and when it's at it's highest point it will still have 2 inches to keep air circulation around itt. the plants will be flowered unil they are 5 foot tall.. the 5 gallon buckets that i have are 18 inches high so i will cut them off at 1 foot in height.. the floor is the perfect size to fit 4- 5 gallon buckets perfectly... this means i have a little less then a foot left so i can put 2 more smaller buckets with smaller plants in it and then i also have more room left for my 4L watering jugs in that box. if i can get the money to get the light and the 4 fans soon it would be perfect but then my only problum would be that i am no electricion and the box is kept in my tool shed which is not wired up.. the only power that i have out there is an extension chord that is run from an external outlet that is on my house... i highly doubt that it would support all that equipment tho.. or would it? any sudgestions that anyone has for my grobox please comment and tell me what you think or what i might need to add

an experienced grower would get over 4 ounces per plant. you;ll do well to get 2 - 4 ounces per plant your first grow as you learn by doing. lots of people get almost no yield their first grow.
