600w or T5 for Veg room?

How much space and ventilation do you have? For closed, hot spaces go with the T5 setup. If you have the space and can control the extra heat, go with the 600w for sure... PICS!

t5 - less electric, less heat so gentler on young plants, more even growth no tall plants in the middle and short ones round the edges

Of course with more light plants will veg better but its just veg.I would save on my elec bill and just go with t5s.I would flower with nothing less then a hps tho.600 or up will be great for bigger buds.

Depends on how you grow and whether or not you can manage the heat from a 600. If you are planing on sending clones directly into flower after rooting then I'd go with the Ts. If you plan on vegging plants for a normal 20-40 days then a 600 will produce much better structure (tighter nodes, faster growth) then the Ts. I have 2x250 MH and a 125 hort CFL in my vegging chamber (2x4x5') where I tend to veg plants for at least 30 days before moving to flower - seedling and clones. I've only seen the Ts used for cloning/rooting or augmenting a HID(s) - but not as vegetation lights by themselves although I'm sure folks are using them. Basically, if you are going to veg plants beyond rooting then a HID is the way to go IMHO.

Ohhundred, I had the same question awhile back. The intensity if the hid lights will provide faster and tighter growth, both of which are good things. Unless your power rates are high it will pay off in the end. I actually went with a lumatek dimmable ballast, so I run a 400 mh an then switch to a 600hps on the super lumen setting for flower.

You can grow a mj plant with a flashlight if you wanted to, but remember that light I the key limiting factor in plant growth....
