600w hps To much light for 2x3 closet?

Hey all, i'm on my first medical grow and i'm just growin in a small ikea closet 2 ft by 3 ft by 7 ft tall. I'm using a 600w hps and am therefore getting 15000 lumens pr sq ft. I have now read a dozen places that 5000 lumen pr square foot is enough for otimal growth. The sun gives 10000 lumens pr square foot, and i am using 15000 pr square foot lol

so if 5000 pr sq ft is enough for optimal growth does that mean that i am wasting alot of power using the 600? I mean if 5000 is optimal, what could be better than optimal? I have a 400w to that i'm not using that would give 8333 lumens pr sq ft. Should i just switch to the 400 and save some electricity or is it benefitial to continue with the 600?

they say the grow area for a 600 is 4x4 ft by I feel its more like 3x3 ft. You will definately need a aircooled hood but with good ventilization you will max that closet out wall to wall with buds

wow that reply was fast bro! i posted like 15 seconds ago lol! Temperature is no problem, i flower during the night, i am in week 6 of flowering and everything is great. Just wondering if there is any point in giving 15000 lumens pr sq ft when 5000 is suposed to be optimum. Are the plants able to absorb more than 5000 pr sq ft anyway, seeing as 5000 is optimum?

The 600 light will penetrate deeper than a 400. You are gonna have more heavier buds from bottom to top with the 600. If everything is going great I would keep things just the same

GO with the 400 in a space that small. How is your ventilation? It might get to hott.

how tall are your plants?

The reason i'm asking is cause i saw this:

i'm runnin 5 different plants. I would love to update my grow log but i can't post any more pics on riu for some reason, when i try to ad pics, nuthing happens lol. Anyway the tallest plant is a LSD and it's 66 centimeters tall, take a look at my log here: (the plants look much nicer now though)
btw temps are not an issue, just don't want to stun growth cause of over dose of light, it happens apparently

Your plants seem happy with that 600 to me why change. The only thing I would worry about is light bleach but I dont see any on yours. I had some bleaching when i had my light 10 inches away from tops. 66 cm tall you wanna keep the 600

Ok thank's for the feedback guys i've been trying to upload some more pics for my updates cause my plants look awsome now! but when choosing "add files" and then "select files" nothing happens. "select files" used to open up a list that let me upload from my computer but now nothing happens. Anyone else have the same situation?

600 is perfect as long as u can control heat
