600 Watt Vs 1000 Watt

I've been growing w/ a 1000 watt for a year and now I'm ready to add to my grow room. If I go w/ a 600 watt will my final results be 40% less, as I reduced my wattage 40%

it depends on how many plants you're growing in what size area.. but in most cases yes you would lose some yield; Probably not 40% though.

The lumen per watt ratio of a 600 is more than a 1000. So it wouldn't be 40% by no means. It probably wouldn't make a difference if the area was small and plants are kept under 4 feet.

is it true 1000watt has deeper penetration than a 600w for those tall ones

I have never owned a 1000watt I have a 600 HPS. However from experienced growers that use 1000's it has deeper penetration. I also believe a 1k watter makes denser harder buds.

600w = 3x3 = 9sqf and max 3ft height

1000w = 4.3 x 4.3 = 18.6sqf and max height of 4 1/2 feet.

A 1000w gives you at min 16 sq f of growing area and that's using 4 x 4 do the math 50% less yield! vs a 600w at 9 sq f and I'm being generous with the 600 = best case 40% less funny how that works out.

If all you got is a 600 cool but this is not about you so go with the 1000w and let the little dogs sit on the porch, IMHO and experience, kind of like HP go big as you can

Then you obviously know nothing about automotive sports...


This question really comes down to one thing, and that is the reflector. Is it air cooled? If it is and your area is small enough a 600 will do you just fine because you can get it closer, thus making up for some of the difference. If you can keep a 1000w bulb cool also, then ditch the bullshit and throw that at em. As long as you can keep temperatures in check and you aren't above ~85w's/sqft then you are fine.

thanks i got a 5x5x7 dr150 so its 25 sq feet with an air cooled digital 600 and 9 ladies that are all 4ft plus, its tight in there with an ac, dehumidifier and big phresh up right charcaol filter but im definately going to 1000 next round thanks guys

You can grow them 8 feet tall with a 600w just nothing growing on the bottom 4 feet. Show us some pics of your plants

I started with 1000's then when I downsized I got a 600.
Fuck that piece O shit 600 the difference was very noticeable.
