okay, got an inline fan to cool my light today, thing is fucking huge not what i was expecting, anyway i plugged it in...holy loud, i know the ducting helps but does anyone else have any tips with these babies, there uncomfortably loud to be coming from my closet. i think it would be a a good idea if you could somehow amp them down so they dont run as fast, they are really strong and you dont even need that much air, anyways some advice would help thanks

Or you could just run up to your local hardware or home improvement store and pick up a Light Dimmer. Make sure you get one that can handle your fan. Make sure you get a dimmer with an amp rating of at least 10% more than the amp rating of the fan in question.

a light dimmer is no good for controling inline fans. you have to at least get a solid state fan controler. and these usually have only 3 speeds, where a good controller will have a dial for variable speed. but IMO why get a cheap imitation that may fail or overheat your expensive inline fan. home depot is one of them places that you get what you pay for. although i do shop there all the time, for a inline like a vortex, i would get the speedster.
