how many 1,000w light do you guys think i'll need to produce 6-8 pounds every harvest? and how many plants you think i'll need?

With a sog probably at least 64 plants with an average 2OZ yield and maybe four+ 1,000W lights. This is totally unaccurate though as there's sooo many factors. The strain, enviroment, care, nutrients, veg time, flower time, everything.

Well, hitting 1 gram/watt is pretty ideal. 6-8 pounds is 2750-3632 grams. If you're really good, then you'd need four lights, three if you're one of the best growers on the planet, everything goes perfectly, and you enrich with co2. If you want to be reasonably sure of achieving the goal, 6 or 8 lights. I'd try 6 lights and work from there. Or scale down your yield expectations and use fewer lights.

Incidentally, that'd be a lot of buds to trim. I take pride in my trimming, and I trim damn thoroughly, down to buds the size of my thumnail, and it takes me about eight hours per half pound, so eight pounds would take me 64 hours of work to trim. I would never want to deal with that many buds at one time, just too much freaking work. I usually do it in slow and relaxed manner and I can get a pound trimmed perfectly in two days. I guess you could always hire someone or something, but...

9 plants, 3x3 square in 5 gallon pots of good soil, good nutes, and say... at least 6 600w+ switchable lights (mh for veg/hps for bud) with good cooling, good fans to keep fresh air, a c02 system, lay some support screens, do some LST'ing, and let em veg till they get BIG. 12/12 em and you will be doing pretty good. Depending on veg time I think you could get 6 pounds out of that but it will take a decent chunk of the year to do it.

Edit: there is a common argument between which is more effective between 600's and 1000's. The 600's can be closer to the plant without burning them and give more usable light to the plants, but needless to say, 1000 watts give more light *durrr*

AL b. Fuct is the authority on this. If by harvest you go by orgo language, as in every 3 months; his perpetual 2lb a month hydro setup would sort you out plenty. Look it up.

As you've seen the opinions vary widely and most of it has to do with your ability and knowledge to maximise the grow. With my limited knowledge I could do a 6 lb grow with about 30 healthy plants of Indica dominate strain with 4 1000w lights. And that is if everything goes perfect.

its more about the number of watts than number of plants... its all about the light

i estimate each 1K light to produce 1lb dried herb...

you can get more, but it takes a lot of time and some supercropping techniques...
