5gal bucket

What would be the best way to prepare a 5gal bucket for a soil grow? Mostly just want to know how many and what size holes to drill.
The soil is a 40%peat moss, 30%perlite, 20%manure, 10%sand.

:joint:I drilled about 12-15 holes per bucket that were 1/2" as well. Maybe drilling up the side a bit would have been better for my plants. My experience with the buckets was they were lacking space for the feeder roots, the ones that absorb the majority of the water/nutrients and air. I was thinking those larger pots (wider at the top, smaller at the base) are 5 gallons, but they are probably twice the cost of a bucket. If you have the space, use a rubbermaid container, it would almost be like having them in the ground. This is assuming you have enough room for larger containers.:joint:

that i do not.... space is very limited, figured this would be the most cost effective method. was figuring that the narrower the pot the shorter they would get and that works for what i want. Sorry to sound like a noob lol, im just way too baked for this early in the morning.

Eight holes around the perimeter, four more in around the center ring - all on the bottom. Small holes, no bigger than 1/4". I put a 2" square piece of window screen over each hole before filling with soil.
