For shits and giggles but also to prove the blurple LED haters wrong that they grow perfectly fine and are a good cheap effective solution for the 1st time growers.

Multi autoflower strains grown in soil and DWC.
3 Devil xxl auto (original seed store) grown in soil. 11 litre fabric pots.
3 Auto White Widow (Pyramid seeds) grown in soil. 11 litre fabric pots.
1 Afghan Kush Ryder auto (World of seeds) DWC
1 Sour diesel auto (Dinafem) DWC

For the soil grow I will be using Ionic coco bloom nutrients. Just ph'd water for the veg period as plenty nutrients in the soil.

This will be my first attempt at DWC.
For the DWC I'm using the Vitalink hydro max line. And using the recommended amounts on the bottles.
It will be a sterile DWC environment using pool shock 0.5 gram in a gallon of water then 1ml per gallon of the diluted pool shock every 4 days.

Well unfortunately the sour diesel and the afghan kush ryder didn't make it. Seeds germinated and grew tap roots but then refused to grow any further. They were replaced with devil xxls as I have an abundance of these seeds.

Devil xxl is soil. I think they going to be monsters. Only getting phd water with vitalink root stim 2 ml per litre.

White widow auto. Started at same time as the devil xxl. The devil is at least 3x the size.

My first attempt at dwc. You can see there is a huge difference in growth rate compared to the ones in soil.

White widow auto in dwc. Twice the size of her sisters growing in soil.
Dwc temperature is sat stable at 68 degrees and ph at 5.8 so perfect environment. Ppm is 200. I'll increase this 50 Ppm each week so not to stress them.

I've noticed that the two seeds that didn't make it were free seeds. I'm thinking what the seed stores do is give away the seeds that are old stock that are maybe hit and miss. It hasn't cost me anything but my time so no harm done. The devil xxl I replaced them with are growing really well. Thanks for the input.

I've always felt old/low selling/discontinued go as freebies.
 
End of 2nd week update.

Devil xxl auto DWC.
These Devil xxls seem like they are going to be monsters. They are growing that quickly I decided to FIM some of them to see how well they cope with it. I know before anyone chimes in that you shouldn't FIM or top auto flowers but this is more an experimental grow so if yield suffers no harm done.

Devil xxl in soil. Still only being fed PhD water. Growth rate not as good as the DWC but they are around 3x the size of the white widow autos I'm growing alongside them.

White widow auto in soil. PhD water only. All plants are lush and green and really praying to the cheap blurple lights.
DWC I have raised the ppm to 350 ppm. Ph is stable sat at 5.8 - 5.9. Temperature of water is 70 degrees. It's getting warmer where I live so I'm considering dropping some frozen bottles into the rez.

Nutrients are staining the roots slightly. I'll be keeping an eye out for root rot with the raising temperatures we are having.
These cheap blurple lights get some stick here on RIU but they are doing an excellent job for me.
 
The only ones that say you can't transplant/top/fim are ones that can't efficently grow autos. They all work wonders with autos as long as healthy, so hope it works out and I'll be watching.
 
It's a bank holiday weekend in the UK this weekend so incase I don't find the time I'm updating today.

White widow auto DWC. The devil and widow share the same rez. The devil is a nutrient hoe so I upped the nutrients and it caused a ph swing that the widow didn't like at all and ended up with calcium deficiency covering 80% of the bottom leaves. I had to dilute the solution back down and stabilise the ph to a level they could both grow in harmony. I trimmed the effected leaves from her. Its not effected the growth at all so problem solved.

White widow auto in soil. Growing really well. Nice healthy plant. Not as vigorous as the devil's though and a little shy to show me her bits unlike the devil that's shooting pistils out all over.
Not much stretch at all happening so I've backed the lights off to around 3ft to see if they will reach up to them.
 
End of week 4 tomorrow.
Growth rates have increased and the stretch has begun.

Non of the widows have shown there sex as yet. The devil's are shooting out pre flowers left right and centre.

The size difference is really noticeable in this picture.
I fimmed a few of the girls 2 weeks back and they didn't bat a eye to it and the growth continued as normal.
I added 5 litres of PhD water with bloom nutrients to the DWC with a ppm of 350. The water is still as clean as day one so won't be doing a rez change at this point.
Things are going well. I'm hoping in the coming weeks the tent will become overcrowded. I have a scrog net but I don't think I'll use it in this grow unless I use it to support the colas.

That devil in the bubbler has about 9 or 10 bud sites since I fimmed her mate. I'm just hoping by the end off the stretch she doesn't starve the widow of light. The root zone is just as impressive. I'll try and get a picture of them at some point.

Yes mate. Fim gives you 4 + new tops and isn't as bad on the plants health. Recovery is faster supposedly although non of the plants were stressed in the slightest with the cuts I made. The only slight problem I've had during this auto grow is the widow in DWC had a slight calcium deficiency that I fixed by draining the tote of some of the solution then adding straight tap water to the rez and re adjusting the ppm and upping the ph to around 6.0

I'm sorry mate. I no longer use RIU. I got sick and tired of the hitlers that constantly put other people down and the constant blurple light abuse.

This is the same batch now in week 8.
I now use overgrow.com as it's a lot nicer place and the people are a lot more helpful and less self absorbed than most of the members on here.
 
Glad you posted again. Anyone who has used a half-decent blurple knows that they work just fine. The blurple-hate around here is very strong, but I just ignore it.

Maybe I'll check out that other forum! :)

Thanks Cogitech. You should check it out mate. It's always good to have extra places to find extra information on our hobby. They will help anyone out without all the abuse you get off a lot of RIU members. This used to be the only site I used. Now it's the last place I want to spend any kind of time in.
I've proved they grow fine I think. I'll maybe pop back once I've harvested with how much I yielded although one of the widows seems like it's a photoperiod as it's not flowering and just constantly growing and it's 100% female. It should end up a beast with having near enough 3 months veg time.

I didn't run into any heat mate. I just think a lot of people on RIU attitudes stink. There is no need for any of the shit I've seen dished out to people on here. Forums are a place for people to find help and information on whatever it is they are doing. RIU is full of bullys and quantum board fan boys that think they know better than everyone else. I now advise people to find a different source of information other than on here. The place is a joke. Your new here so I'm sure in a week or two you will find out for yourself that this place isn't worth your time or energy. Don't get me wrong not everyone is like that but Id say at least 90% of them are. Good luck pal. Your gonna need it on here I can assure you of that.
