500 watt T-3's

i usually use about 6 100 watt fluros, but have been recently thinking of getting stronger lumens. I have two 500 watt T-3's ans was wondering if they were ok to use during any stage.

veg im sure...i know t5 works for veg.

depends on the color tempature the bulbs are. can i ask how hot they get and for some other details on them to tell you for sure?

im pretty sure its a type of UV. they get pretty hot, but are like 2ft. away from my plants at the moment the room doesnt get past 85.

Those are quartz lamps, a special kind of incandescent. They will not work well unless you want a lot of heat and a high electric bill. HID's are about 5 times more efficient.

is it possible to convert the t-3 ballast to a hid one?
