5 leaves 7 leaves whats the diff...

Why do some plants have 5 leaves and some have 7? I use to think that is how you could tell the differance between male and female since my plants are still in veg i know this is not true.

whether they are sativa dominant or indica, indica are usually fat leaves, maybe 5-8 per leaf, sativa ur looking at more like 9-12 fingers per leaf.

um i think it would be more like 5 to 7 or 9 to 13 just sayin i never realy have Evan numbers

um...I think I was closer then u were U made me get out THE BOOK, lol. Okay, in The cannabis growers bible (also complete with wonderful illustration, it says Sativa: usually 6-12 blades per leaf Indica: Usually 3-5 blades per leaf. Now the illustrations show the "Mostly Sativa" as having, 9 blades & the "Sativa" (as in pure) as having 12. Illustrations show "Mostly Indica" as having 7 blades, "Indica" (pure) 5, & "Indica/Sativa" mix, 8.

on a side note, i think the first time i truly ever counted my leaves were my first sativa grow, before I had ever seen how truly different they were, & how unmistakable indica's are. so u may be right as far as "most" of them being odd leafed, but hey I recall all my technical type info from the book, & I think I was pretty darn close to that. I also own jorge cervantes indoor/outdoor bible, & I still love to reference them over & over, when I am not 100% certain from memory!

I noticed that one of my plants has really thin blades compared to the other 4. I mean really thin almost deformed looking compared to the others, i will try to get my camera going and post some pics. They point straight up towards the lights too unlike the others. atm it has just two sets of leaves with five blades each, three bladed under it. All these plants are bag seeds and i am hoping to get lucky. I want to buy some good ones next week. I am looking for indoor fem seeds with a very fast harvest...i found some called "Dinafem california hash plant" that harvest 45-50 days from seed. it is 17.59 each seed. I hope it is not too good to be true. I am really looking for a great indica, feminized..something beautiful that won't get real tall...kinda quick harvest as well...any suggestions?

I dont have much of an educated guess about your leave problem without pictures but as for fast seeds theres sooooo many. If you want small easy to grow plant that flow from 7 to 9 weeks seed to bud look for anything fast flower auto. Theres also fast female seeds and you can control how big they grow by stressing them or shortening the veg state. Good luck finding some. I have some ak x critical haze fast flower auto going right now. They claim 7 weeks seed to bud and shes a growing quick.

You just answered a post that has been dormant for 9 years and replied to a person who hasn't logged into the site for just as long.

How come now one knew the difference between 5 and 7 leaves is 2?

I literally noticed that when i sent it lol first day on the site. That's for taking the time in pointing that out on a 9 year thread!!!

That's badass! Is that one leaf?? I've never seen them layered like that. How does one pull that off??

It's a completely random mutation. Each phenotype has a unique genome so they express different characteristics.

Two plants of the same strain can have different numbers of leaves.

Two Buba Kush "Sativa" from same seed plant. Completely different plants.
