Heard the same thing too but was it 48 hours or 24? I usually just let it go a day in darkness

mel frank in several of his books talks about testing samples, and he found that at points later in flowering samples taken after 8 hours of dark tested up to 10% higher in THC. Notice the up to, and how it depended on when in flowering (I know it's in the insiders guide, one of his books). I've suspected that longer was just the result of people thinking more is better, but I dunno. I personally end up giving my plants anywhere from 20-30 hours of dark before I chop depending on my schedule at the time.

I put my girls in 36 hours before they go into 12/12.

I have heard that putting them into 24 hours of dark before harvest makes them try and get all the resin from the plant.

It does wonderful things to the plants. Most obvious is the ripening after 48hrs dark. I find it's important to keep a fan blowing on them if you haven't during the normal dark hrs. The first time I did they ended up almost completely wet.

Good looking out. 48 hours sounds like where it needs to be. I am flushing right now I am having to tie up branches that are getting weighed down with some serious bud weight lol

So does putting it under 48 hours of darkness before the chop it will create abit more potency then if i just leave it as normal before the chop? Also on a totally different subject, does putting a bowl of rice in the drying room actually decrease moisture meaning less chance of mold?! Good post by the way, excellent reading!
