Are you saying you would do this glass shelf thing?

Also this may sound kind of dumb, but where can i get a peice of glass like that?? hardware store?

"Videoman, I don't understand the temperature in the CFM equation here. Is that the difference between ambient and desired temp?"

Cfm = (3.2xwatts) / (cabinet temp - room temp)

So, if room temp is 75, cabinet temp is 85, watts are 1,000, it would be (3.2x1,000)/(85-75) = 320 cfm.

In such a small area wont the easiest solution be to get a different light.The hps is a great light but the grow space is low end ideal.Maybe you cfl guys can help or use some floros or T5 type lighting.Your not gonna get maximum yeild in this setup anyways so if you get a less heat producing light setup for sucha tiny area you solve the problem and the need for exspense of cooling systems?? Just a thought as the 400 is too much for such a tiny space.

You know another option, and I dont know if stealth is a concern here or not, if it is this wont work but, you could cut out the very top of the dresser, and lay the light on top, rather than inside the dresser. This will free up more growable space in the cabinet, and instead of raising or lowering your light, raise or lower your plants.

Stealth is a must, but i mean nothing has to be perfect. It will be in a differnet room which will be locked, i'm just saying i need to have it still mostly look like a dresser.

I have some floro's... 2 2' T12 Daylight tubes (not really worth shit), and then 4 compact floros with 1600 lumens a piece. Thats bascially what my vegging setup is right now. I decided on the 400watt HPS for flowering just becasue if I would have gotten the 250watt or something which is just a little less i figured i would be cutting some corners and it would just bite me in the ass later. So, I'm still bascially at a hault until I can figure out this ventilation thing... My plants wont be ready to flower for probably another 3 weeks or more so I have some time to think about this.

I have some great ideas, but if anyone has any suggestions i'm completely open to anything!

thanks to everyone who has suggested stuff!!!!!

I am a big fan of CFLs, but I have never flowered all the way through with them. Stealth is very important to me also (as I am painfully paranoid). SOme her will say if you want results you must flower with CFL. IMHO, the math for that statement does not add up.

One thing to keep in mind, 2700k CFLs also produce some heat. Granted, not as much as a 400w HPS. If I were making the call I would compare PAP between the two options and see which will produce more light for the same amount of heat.

Why dont you put the thing together, turn on the light, use any fans you already have, and take some temps now? See where it falls.
Peace.
