400WAT, Risky?

Alright so im growing in an apt with a 150 wat and my bill has increased to like 30 bucks extra bcuz i do 12/12.. and just all my other electrical appliance and crap running, would a 400wat make my bill increase to much that it could possibly pose a warning/problem?

That sounds right.... at 20 cents per kWh.

I ushouldnt have any problems with the 400. I have a 1000 hps in my closet and it only raised my electric like 45. The general rule of thumb is u can add an extra 1000 watts for every bedroom u have.

just really watch your unnecessary light usage. turn lights off that you really don't need and take colder showers if you are really concerned. this will help keep you right around you normal electrical consumption. good luck

If I were you my main concern would be the temperature of the are you are growing in. Not only should it be ventilated for the plants sake, but the feds can tell if you have a room with excess radiant heat. A 400w hps puts out a considerable amount of heat. As far as Your electric bill is concerned, i would watch my electrical consumption closely. If you have your own hot water heater in the room perhaps turn it down. Space heaters rack up the bill in a heartbeat as well. Hope this helps.
