400w Purple Wreck Grow/Grow Room. Lots of Pics! Advice welcome always!

I am posting a journal of my Purple Wreck Grow/Grow room here for fun, and to maybe inspire someone else to do the same.


A little about myself. I am about 3 years from retiring from my first career, while I can't quit working all together I can afford to go down to part time. (Golf shop sounds real good to me). While I can't use Herbs till then, I do enjoy a good hobby.


Q. If you can't use it, what are you going to do with any product?
A. Give about half away. The other half I would like to make a documented experiment on the length of storage in a controlled environment something better then "My buddy's friend stored it like this for 20 years!". I will be storing in vacuumed sealed, light proof, refrigerated, mason jars opening bi-yearly to photo and test the herbs, until a time that it either goes bad or it get used up.

Q. What kind of lights, ventilation, ect are you using.
A. 400w MH/HPS, 6" Hydrofarm Inline Fan.

First thing I chose (after the location in the house) where the doors, I went with two doors.



Next some 2x4s and the framing begins!

Here is what I picked out for the floor (guess I need to build a floor inside my room now). And the second door goes up.



Here is under the floor where I hooked up a some plumbing line, and the line mudded in on the other side of the wall



Here is the second door and a photo with the light on so I can get light sealing.



Here is a shot of my putting door sealer all around my doors, and how I am semi temporarily using a foam piece to seal my cord holes. You can see I've also started rough mudding in order seal all leaks.

That's a completely different Purple Wreck package than the one my 6 pk of fem seeds came in. The cardboard is has a different picture on it and is folded differently, but it still uses that container that the seeds are in. Probably doesn't mean shit, but I just happened to notice and wanted to say something. Anyways you got a nice setup going on there.

Interesting. But I going to lean toward what you were saying "it's probably not a big deal". The back of my package lists the type yield ect ect and looks legit to me. I guess we could just email the RP Amsterdam people and ask them if one of our packages is bogus.

Thanks a lot! I should have the budget to put up mylar about the time I switch to 12/12 (01MAR13).
I don't like to spent more then $50 a paycheck, and unfortunately I am thinking I will need to use this check on buying the tools/piping to connect the exhaust to the outside world. As of now I am just running it into the floor boards which is no big deal ATM due to no smell but I have a feeling that's about to change quick!

Got the tops tied down and the branches are growing like weeds. This weeks pics should be good ones!

Here are week 6 shots. the pics didn't turn out quite as impressive as the plants look. There are currently 17 tops that are within a inch of the screen. I truly believe next week will really show them off. Since the pics were taken I have moved some of the larger shade leaves under some of the smaller tops.

Nice setup and the grow is looking good so far. I'm liking the way you made your screen. Cheers!

Thanks! I also made a new watering device yesterday to help me get under the screen better. Ill try to get some pictures up today.

Here are my week 7 pics, I really wish I had between 2 and 3 more weeks to veg. I'm sure I could get a monstrous yield. As it stands now I am estimating 20 tops when I switch to flower next week. Any how no major problems to report thus far. One more week!

Too funny! I wondered if anyone would spot my name. And to answer your question, sadly I don't know. I would have to ask family to find that out. I used to struggle to pick names for online game characters/forum posts ect. Until I started using locations from around where I lived years ago so if you should happen to see someone online with a handle like, Onekama, Beulah, Traverse, Elbertia, Muskegon, Petoskey, Charlevoix, ect ect, you may just have me on the other end!

Its Gods Country up there, I call Onekama my second home. I will be pulling up a chair and joining in on your grow if you dont mind I'll fire up the vaporizer.

Whenever I go, I go to the Glenwood to eat. Amazing little restaurant right after M22 turns into Main Street on the left hand side if you were coming from Arcadia. Ever been?

Yes I have i've got property just off Portage Point Dr. The Blue Slipper is also good and Van's for prime rib well now I have the munchies lol.

Day 1 of flower complete! Tomorrows pics should look real nice. I've also started trimming off a couple lower branches and shade leaves. A trip to the grow store and I picked up a HPS that I plan on switching to in a couple days.

Well Day 1 of flower has begun, and I have switched to a HPS. I have been working on trimming a couple of small sproutlings from under the canopy everyday so by next week it should be completely cleared out under there.

Awesome thread One! Is that just 2 seed plants? I have some purple wreck in the fridge doing sour kush and shark shock right now. Did you do any topping of these plants? How did you make your scrog screen? I have pulled up a chair for this one

Thanks for the kind words! Your right that's two seeds, no topping at all at about 18 in I just started bending the top over and keeping the light low, in doing so the branches all grew up to the screen.
The scrog screen is just a couple of 2x2's, some screws, and strung with masonry string.

I now have the first hairs growing out of the buds so that's a good thing! Unfortunately I am having some yellowing of new growth to the point I am going to take action. So its off to the Grow store for a Digital PH pen and some Cal/Mag solution. I shouldn't have too much trouble clearing it up. Pics this week should look nice.
